UNIT 7 : LESSON 1 : Gg (P1) I.Objective :

- By the end of the lesson , students will be able to recognize and pronounce the letter

Gg /dgi/and its sound /g/correctly

- Understand, recognize and say the three Gg words

- Write the letter Gg

- Skill: listening, speaking ,reading , writing

II Language focus:

Vocabulary: glass, goat, garden

Sight words: look, at, the, my

III Resources:

- Student’s book, CD, phonics cards ,paper including the lyrics of the chant

IV.Organization:

V Procedures:

A Warm up: 5’

Revise the words unit 5 Make two columns

on the board

Ask the ps to make the letters in column one to

those in the column to make four words

B Presentation:

1 Listen , point and repeat Colour.15’

-Introduction of letter G , It’s sound and how to

pronounce the words beginning with Gg

- Use a card with letter Gg or write on the board

the letter Gg to introduce to the students the

new lesson

- Ask students how to pronouce the letter name

and the letter sound by saying “ This is the

letter Gg The letter G says / g /

-Repeat several times and check student’s

pronunciation(letter Gg/ / and its sound / g /

-Use the phonics cards read the words out loud

and ask students to repeat

-Use gestures (hand actions ) to help students

to understand the meanings of the three words

-Check student’s understanding T says the

2 Practice 10’

*Activity1 : Memory game

- Put the phonics cards of : glass, goat, garden

Gg on the board

- Ak ss to memorise the order of these cards

- Ask ss to close their eyes ,remove one phonics

card radmly and ask individual ss to name it

- Continue changing the other cards

- Remember to correct student’s pronunciation

throughout the lesson

*Activity 2: Where the letter 3’

- Ask ss to work in groups T hangs out the

photographs about the storry and ask ss to circle

the letter

- T give the time

- T corrects and praise the winner

3 Production:1’

- Show the letter Gg again , and ask ss to write

the Gg in air with their fingers

- Ask ss to write down the words glass, goat,

garden into their notebook

C.Consolidation:1’

- T asks whole class to read the letter aloud

D Homelink:

Do the excersice 1,2,3

- Remember the cards

- Circle the letter

- Write letter Gg in the air -Copy down

-Understand, recognize and say the three Gg words

-Write the letter Gg

- Skill: listening, speaking ,reading , writing

- Ask ss to review the letter Gg and the words

B Presentation:15’

1 Listen and point Colour

- Ask ss to look at the books and listen to the

words Look at the glass -Use gestures ( hand

actions ) to help ss to

understanding the meaning of command

-Ask ss to repeat by using the phonics cards of

glass, goat, garden combining with gestures

- Ask ss to colour glass and goat

- T goes round the classroom

*Activitiy :Pass the phonic card

- Using the phonic cards of Gg, glass, goat,

garden and line up the ss into 2 teams

-Give the first ss of each team a phonics card

and say “go “

- Ss say the coresponding words and pass the

phonics card over their head to the ss behind

them

- Next, those ss repeat the words and pass the

phonics card between their legs to the ss

behind them

- Continue to pass the phonic card over their

head and between their legs to the last ss

- The last ss in each team give the card to

teacher and say the word correctly They will

get one point

- Which team has the most point wiil be

winner Continue the game as many times as

necessary

2 Chant and show: 10’

-Put up the lyris of the chant on the board

- Without music , use the phonics card and step

-Read aloud

- Listen and repeat

-colouring

- Work in groups

-Listen and chant

- With music ,the whole class sing the whole chant Do the chant again using gestures for eag word

- Give feedback

3 Production: 1’

-Ask ss to write the chant in to note book -Ask ss to do excersise in the work book
