1 Tranh thủ đọc trước các câu hỏi và câu trả lời cho sẵn ngay khi Part 4 bắt đầu

Trước khi bài nói đầu tiên bắt đầu, thí sinh sẽ có 30 giây nghe phần hướng dẫn (directions) về Part 4 Trong khi máy đọc phần hướng dẫn, bạn nên đọc trước ít nhất 6 câu hỏi (xác định từ khóa – key words) và 8 câu trả lời cho sẵn của hai bài nói đầu tiên Việc đọc trước sẽ giúp bạn phần nào đoán được nội dung của bài nói và việc này

2 Nên vừa nghe vừa giải quyết câu hỏi

Trong khi nghe, cố gắng tập trung nhìn vào các từ khóa và chọn đáp án nhanh nhất có thể

3 Cố gắng hoàn thành việc đánh dấu (tô) câu trả lời vào phiếu trả lời (answer sheet) trước khi câu hỏi thứ hai vang lên

Nếu bạn chờ đến khi nghe xong mọi thứ mới chọn câu trả lời thì bạn sẽ không có thời gian để xem các câu hỏi tiếp theo Do đó, trước khi máy đọc câu hỏi thứ hai (tức câu hỏi 72) thì bạn phải hoàn thành việc tô phương án vào phiếu trả lời các câu 71, 72

và 73 Tận dụng thời gian máy đọc câu hỏi 72, 73 và thời gian nghỉ giữa 2 đoạn để đọc trước 3 câu hỏi và 4 lựa chọn cho sẵn của bài nói kế tiếp (từ câu 74-76)

4 Thời gian làm bài giữa các câu hỏi là khoảng 8 giây

Sau khi kết thúc bài nói thì người dẫn chuyện sẽ đọc ba câu hỏi, hai câu hỏi được đọc cách nhau 8 giây Trong 8 giây này, bạn hãy tranh thủ chọn các câu trả lời rồi đọc

các câu hỏi tiếp theo cũng như các lựa chọn cho sẵn của mỗi câu để đoán nội dung của bài nói kế tiếp

5 Đoán nội dung bài nói từ 3 câu hỏi và các lựa chọn

Việc xem trước câu hỏi và các lựa chọn rất quan trọng, nhất là với những người

có tốc độ đọc chậm Với những thông tin này chúng ta có thể đoán trước nội dung của bài nghe, do đó khi nghe sẽ hiểu dễ hơn

6 Nghe thật cẩn thận lời dẫn nhập (Questions ~ refer to the…)

Khác với Part 3, ở Part 4 chúng ta phải nghe thật cẩn thận phần lời dẫn nhập

trước mỗi bài nói Ví dụ: Questions ~ refer to the following advertisement/weather

report/telephone message, ect Phải chú ý nghe xem đó là quảng cáo (advertisement),

bản tin thời tiết (weather report), hay tin nhắn (message)…Vì điều này sẽ giúp chúng

ta đoán được phần nào nội dung bài nói chuyện

7 Đáp án đúng thường sử dụng “paraphrasing”

“Paraphrasing” là việc diễn đạt ý nghĩa của một từ, một cụm từ bằng cách sử

dụng một từ hoặc cụm từ khác nhằm tối thiểu hóa việc lặp từ

8 Một số chiến thuật quan trọng khác cần nắm

- Câu trả lời cho câu hỏi tổng quát (general questions) thường xuất hiện trong phần

đầu của bài nói

- Đối với câu hỏi chi tiết (specific questions) thì chú ý tới từ giới hạn để tập trung khi

nghe Ví dụ: trong câu What will happen next Friday? Thì next Friday là từ giới hạn, câu có chứa từ giới hạn này chính là key sentence và lời đáp xuất hiện ngay trước hoặc sau từ next Friday trong bài nói

- Với các câu hỏi thuộc dạng hỏi về sự việc hoặc hành động tiếp theo (Do-next

questions) thì bạn cần chú ý đến nửa phần sau của bài nói vì đáp án sẽ căn cứ vào phần

này

Khi một người gọi điện đến công ty, bệnh viện, phòng khám, thư viện, viện bảo tàng…nhưng không có nhân viên trả lời trực tiếp mà chỉ nghe hệ thống trả lời tự động

Thứ nhất, với dạng bài tin nhắn được ghi âm (recorded message) thì thường sẽ

có câu hỏi: Tại sao hiện tại không có người nghe máy? Đáp án cho câu hỏi dạng này thường xuất hiện sau các cụm từ: I am currently…(tôi hiện tại đang);

we are/will be closed…(chúng tôi đóng cửa); our office is currently closed for… (văn phòng của chúng tôi hiện đang đóng cửa đề…)

Thứ hai, câu hỏi liên quan tới việc yêu cầu/chỉ dẫn người gọi tới phải làm gì Ví

dụ như: what are the listeners advised/encouraged/asked/instructed to do… để trả lời cho câu hỏi loại này bạn cần chú ý đến nửa phần sau của bài nói vì đáp

án sẽ thường xuất hiện vào đoạn này

Thứ ba, chú ý tới từ giới hạn để tập trung khi nghe vì câu trả lời xuất hiện ngay trước hoặc sau từ giới hạn
