Classification of Cable Labels

Engineering cable labels are classified into two

types respectively for the power cable and signal

cable:

1 Signal cables include the alarm cable, network

cable, optical fiber, trunk cable, and user cables

(excluding the antenna feeder).

2 Power cables include the DC power cable and

AC power cable (excluding the power bus bar)

 If the customer needs to ensure the consistency

of label description of all devices in the equipment

room, the contents of the label must be filled in

Preparing Cable Labels

 You can fill in the contents of the label in two ways: printing or manually writing with the oil pen The printing method is recommended for the

efficient and nice looking purpose

1 Print the label

b) Get the template from the Huawei representative office

The template is prepared by using the Microsoft Word You can adjust the template according to the product installation manual

2) Printer requirement: The laser printer must be used

3) Printer paper sending requirement: Manually send the paper one by one, regardless of the printer model used Automatically send the paper

is not recommended, in case the paper is jammed

4) Printed labels must meet the following three requirements:

a) All contents are on the label, but not on the liner paper of the label

b) Contents in each blank must be centered Printed contents of a single line cannot cover the parting line and the word “TO:”

c) If the first item has too many contents and the contents can be

Attaching Cable Labels

1 Signal cable label

The label is attached to the place 2cm away from the connector by

default, or on other place in special case Avoid attaching labels on the curve cable or other position that affects the cable installation 。

After labels are attached to the cables, all strips with words must face right or downward.

２ Attach the label to the power cable

Remove the label from the liner paper and attach the label in the square groove of the marking plate on the cable tie The cable tie is bound at the place 2cm away from the connector by default, or on other place in

special case

You need to bind cable ties on both ends of the cable After cables ties are bound on the cable, all marking plates must face right or upward

Label Contents

1 Label contents of the power cable

The power cable label is only attached to the marking plate of the cable tie The contents include the peer end position of the cable, which is

started by “TO:” That is, only the position of the peer device, control

cabinet, cable distribution box, or socket of the cable is marked

2 Label contents of the signal cable

After the signal label is attached, contents on two sides of the label

respectively identify the position of the port connected to each end of the cable The port contents must meet the following requirements:

The position information of the local end is written in area 1

The position information of the peer end is written in area 2, that is, the area with the mirror writing “TO:”

Area 3 will be folded when the label is attached

Precautions when Using Labels

1 Keep labels clean when writing, printing, or attaching the labels

2 Label paper used is moisture-proof and water-proof Thus, it is prohibited

to use the ink jet printer or fountain pen to write the contents in any case

3 Attach labels in a neatly and ordered manner Because the new label is in strip shape, if the attaching position and direction of the strip are not

uniformed, the appearance of the product will be seriously affected

4 The power cable must be bound with cable ties with marking plate The cable ties must be bound at the same height and directions of all marking plates must be consistent

Engineering Label of External Alarm Cable

 The external alarm cable is connected to the first cabinet in each row This cabinet is used for power distribution On this cabinet, the labels must be

attached to indicate which device the connecting terminal should be

connected to If the equipment side does not have special requirement,

engineering labels can be spared In this case, contents are only filled in area

 This type of label is applicable to the network cable of the board inserted to the sub rack, or the network cable used to connect various Hubs to the server

or agent in the value-added services

 This type of label is applicable to the optical fiber with the optical connector on the board in the sub rack or chassis device There are two types of optical fiber label The first is used for the optical fiber connecting two devices The second is used for the optical fiber connecting the device and optical

Engineer Label of Trunk Cable Between Devices (1)

 There are two types of trunk cable label One is used for trunk cable

connection between two devices, for example, connection between the trunk board and built-in transmission module, and connection between two trunk boards In this case, the label is attached to each end of the cable, indicating the position of the cable on the device, or the position on each of the two

trunk boards of the same device Another type of label is used for connection between a device and the digital distribution frame (DDF) In this case, the label is attached to each end of the cable, indicating the positions of the cable

on the device and on the DDF

 Trunk cables include 75Ω/120Ω E1 cable, 100Ω T1 cable, Ω/120Ω E1 cable, 100Ω T1 cable,

34M/45Ω/120Ω E1 cable, 100Ω T1 cable, M/140M/15Ω/120Ω E1 cable, 100Ω T1 cable, 5Ω/120Ω E1 cable, 100Ω T1 cable, M cable, 120Ω-to-75Ω/120Ω E1 cable, 100Ω T1 cable, Ω trunk cable, and clock cable

 Explanation to the label example:

 The contents of the label on the load cabinet side is “A01/B08- –

48V2 ”, indicating that this power cable is the –48V2 that comes from 8th connecting terminal on the second row of –48V bus bar in the power distribution box, which is located in row A and line 01

 The contents of the label on the power distribution cabinet side is

“B03- –48V2 ”, indicating that this power cable is the –48V2 that comes from the load cabinet, which is located in row B and line 03

 Contents of engineering label of DC power cable

(1) indicates the label on the loaded cabinet side, which carries the information about the position of the cable on the power distribution box (2) indicates the label on the distribution box side, which carries the

information about the position of the cable on the loaded cabinet side.

This type of label is applicable to the AC power cable when the cabinet

adopts the AC power supply The AC power cables include POWER cable, PGND cable, and BGND cable The label is attached to both ends of the DC power cable The 220V, working ground, and protection ground of the 220V

AC power cable have the insulated protection sheath Thus, you only need to write the AC and cabinet number on the label of the power cable.
