- Language content: +To introduce the topic English Speaking Countries

- Language function: +By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know some English speaking

countries and some information about these countries

- Educational aims: + To widen SS’ knowledge about English speaking countries.

2 Language contents:

+ Grammar: simple tenses

+ Vocabulary : the words relating to English speaking countries

3 Techniques / activities: Group/ pair work, individual working, games , using picture

4 Teaching aids: Ss’ books, pictures, CD player.

I WARM UP: Guessing

-Ask SS to look at the pictures and guess what country each monument/ item is from

- Ask SS if they know of a common thing about these countries ( The language: English)

- Introduce the new Unit and ask SS to call out names of English speaking countries and their main cities

-Introduce the picture on page 16 and ask SS to answer some questions:

Where are the children? What do you think they are doing?

- Remark and mark, then lead to the lesson

II PRE – PRACTICE:

* Present new words :

- absolutely (adv) tuyệt đối, chắc chắn

+ Checking new words: Rub out and remember

III CONTROLLED - PRACTICE

- Ask Ss to listen and read the dialogue

- Ask SS to work individually to do the exercise, compare their answers with a partner

- Check and give feedback

Exercise 1b:Answer the questions

- Play the recording again and without letting SS read along Ask Ss to try to answer as many questions as possible SS then read the conversation again to check their answers

V FREE – PRACTICE: Game: WHERE ARE THEY?

- SS work in groups of five to locate the six countries in exercise 3 on the world map The first

group to find all the countries wins

- Ask ine student from the winning group to go to the board to mark the six countries so that all SS can see and check

- Learn by heart all the new words

- Practise reading the dialogue more at home

interesting information about English speaking countries, some nationalities

I WARM UP: Chating

- ask SS to tell some countries where English is used as the first language: the USA, England,

Scotland, Canada,…… and what famous things there are in these countries

- introduce the lesson

II PRE – PRACTICE

Exercise 1:

-Ask SS to write the names for the people who belong to the places then share the answers with the partner

- Ask SS to listen and check the answers

-SS listen again and repeat the words

-Introduce the stress in words ending in –ese and –ee

Exercise 5:

-Ask Ss to listen and repeat the words

-Have Ss say the words individually

-Ask some Ss to read the words aloud

-Ast Ss to find out the rules: For words ending in-ese and –ee, the stress is often placed on the final syllables.

II CONTROLLED - PRACTICE

*Exercise 6:

- write the words underlined on the board

- Have Ss mark the stress in the words

- Ask other Ss to think if the stress is correct

-Play the recording for Ss to listen, check and say the sentences aloud

- Have Ss correct the stress on the board if necessary

-Calls on some Ss to say the sentences individually

I WARM UP: Brainstorm

- Ask Ss to look at the adverbs: usually, often, now, at the present, so far, since and tell the

meanings of the adverbs

- Ask Ss to answer the question: What do these adverbs help you? – They are the time signals They help us to put the verbs in the right tense

- Get Ss’ answers and lead to the lesson

II PRE – PRACTICE

A Review the present tenses

-Remind Ss about the use of the present simple, present continuous and present perfect

- Ask Ss to give more time signals of the three tenses

* The present simple: to talk about an action that usually happens or a truth Time signals are

adverbs of frequency, every…

E.g: We often go to school by bicycle

* The present continuous: to talk about an action that is in progress Time signals are now, at the present, at the moment, …

E.g: We are going to school by bicycle now

* The present perfect: to talk about an action that happened some time before now or our

E.g: We have never been to the USA

Exercise 1: Complete the sentences with the correct form of the verbs( present simple, present continuous and present perfect)

- Ss write the verbs and share the answers with the partner

- Ss tell their answers and explain how they decidedon the tense ni each sentence

Exercise 2: Find and correct four of the incorrect verbs in the passage

- Let Ss do the exercise and then share the answers with the partner

Exercise 3: GAME: How much do you know about a country?

- Put Ss into groups of five and tell them that they have a chance to put together what they know about a country, including all the information they have got so far from the lesson too

- Ask Ss to write the information in short notes first without mention the name of the country

- Ask each group to stand up in front of the class Each member of the group will give one fact about the country When they have finished, the rest fo the class can guess what country it is When every group has done their presentation,the class can vote for the most informative and interesting one

Where is Scotland? What is this land famous for?

III WHILE-READING

Exercise 1

- Get Ss to read the passage, asking them to underline the

things that Scotland is famous for
