LESSON PLAN

Unit 11: TEST YOURSELF

*Objectives: By the end of the lesson , the students will be able to:

- review the knowledge they have learnt about the vocabularies relating

to environment

- improve their scanning skill

- review the grammatical point “relative clauses replaced by participles

and to infinitive”

- write a short paragraph about the measures to protect the environment

Teaching aids: handouts, poster,

Stage 1

Checking pronunciation(5’)

- divide class into 2 groups

- each group choose 4 students

- one student from each group will take turn to put a tick at the right word that the teacher pronounces, which group has more correct answers and more quickly will be the winner.

*Checking grammatical point(10’)

- stick a poster on the board and ask student to do the exercise on it in pairs in 5 minutes

- Call some students to go to the board and write down their answers Task 1

Reading(15’)

- provide the meaning of some words

in the passage by giving them some situations or explanation

1 survival (n) :  survive ex: After the storm, only 2 person in that village survived

- teacher poses a question

*what does “survive” mean ?

2 complicated (adj) : phức tạp

3 Lessen (V) : cắt giảm, làm giảm bớt

4 enforce (V) : thi hành , buộc phải làm

- ask students to read the passage in 3 minutes and do the exercise on the handout in pairs

Task2:

- provide some phrases and structures

- should + V (bare infinitive): nên làm gì

- shouldn’t + V1: không nên làm gì

- Instead (adv): = instead of(prep)+ Noun/ Noun phrase/ V-ing : thay vào đó, đáng lẽ, thay vì

Ex: Now I can walk to work instead of going by car

- It + be +(high) time+ S.O + V2/ Ved (đã đến lúc( ai đó) cần phải làm gì )

- give Ss 4 poster and ask them to work

in 4 groups, write a paragraph in 100 to

120 words

Correct the students’ mistake on the poster

- if there is not enough time, ask them write it at home individually
