I Aims:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to talk about what they want to buy and

do to prepare for a typhoon

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to develop their listening skill for details to complete a table about how to live with earthquakes

II Language Contents:

 Grammar : - The passive voice.

- I suggest + Ving

- Why don’t we ? How about + Ving ? Let’s

1 Warm up: (3’)

 Brainstorming:

buy food check the roof

buy oil, gas store water

2 Pre _ Speaking: (8’)

 Pre _ Teach:

- canned food: thức ăn đóng hộp

- candle (n): nến

- bucket (n): cái xô

- leak (n): chỗ thủng, chỗ dột

- tie (v): cột, buộc

- peg (n): chốt, cọc

- latch (n): cái chốt cửa

- ladder (n): cái thang

- blanket (n): cái mền

3 While _ Speaking: (10’)

a) Check () What preparations you think

should be made for a typhoon: (P 76)

 answers:

- Painting the house

- Buying a dog

- Hiring some video movies

- Filling all buckets with water 

- Washing your blankets

- Fixing the leak in the roof 

- Tying the roof to the ground with pegs and

- Inviting some friends over for a dinner

- Checking all the window and door latches 

b) Now work with a partner Talk about what

you think you want to buy and do to prepare for

a typhoon, explain why The ideas in the box

may help you: (P 76)

 suggested ideas:

(1) I think we should buy candles

- I agree because there may be a power cut We

should buy matches, too

(2) How about filling all buckets with water?

- What for?

- Just in case the water pipes may be damaged

by the typhoon

(3) Let’s fix the leak in the roof

- Why?

- Because it will be raining hard
