I OBJECTIVES:

- Practice and do: The past simple & the past simple with “Wish”

II TEACHING AIDS:

- Text book, teacher’s note

III PROCEDURES:

1 Review:

- Introduces some situations in the past:

+ What did Lan buy yesterday?

- She bought a hat yesterday

Did + S + V(inf)?

S + V(past) + O

2 Presentation: Lesson 5: Language focus

a) Activity 1:

- Ss listen to the dialogue & repeat

+ What did Ba do on the weekend?

- He went to see a movie called “ Ghosts & Monsters”

+ When did he see it?

- He saw it on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock

- Ss look at the activities of Nga, Lan, Nam, Hoa & work in pairs

- Calls Ss to play the role & can make the open dialogue

b) Activity 2:

- T introduces & explains the tittle of the exercise

- Ss match the words with the pictures:

Buy Make Hang Go Paint

A cake Flowers

A picture of HN Colorful lamps Shopping

- Asks Ss to give the verbs in the past of it.

- Gives examples & Ss do the same:

Eg 1 Mai made a cake

2 Tung hung colorful lamps on the wall

- Ss work in pairs & corrects:

3 Mr Tuan bought flowers

4 Lan painted a picture of Ha Noi

5 Hoa & Nga went shopping

c) Activity 3:

- Ss look at the examples

I don’t have money I wish I had money

- Ss read the example in the book & do exercises from a) i)

- Write on board

- Answer keys:

c I wish I had a computer

d I wish I lived close to school

didn’t live far from school

e I wish I had a sister

f I wish I draw well

g I wish I had my friend’s phone number

IV HOMEWORK:

- Do the exercises again

- Learn by heart all

UNIT 2: CLOTHING Lesson 1: Getting started + Listen & read

I OBJECTIVES:

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: Ask & respond to questions on personal preferences

III PROCEDURES:

- Ss look at the pictures & answer some questions:

+ Where is she from? /where does she come from ?

- She comes from Japan

+ Why do you know she come from Japan?

- B/C she is wearing a Kimono

- Ss discuss in groups & write on board Then T corrects:

* Keys: a She comes from Japan

b She comes from Vietnam

c He comes from Scotland

d He comes from India

e He comes from USA

f She comes from (Saudi) Arabia

2 Listen & read:

a) Prereading:

- T introduces “Ao dai”:

- Asks Ss to make T/F statements:

1 The Aodai isn’t the traditional dress of Vietnamese women

2 Aodai was used to wear by both men & women

3 Vietnamese women today often prefer to wear Aodai at work because it is more convenient

4 For a long time, the Aodai has been the subject poems, novels & songs

- Ss read the words

b) While reading:

- Ss listen to the tape and read Then Ss read scanly & do exercises

- Ss work in group and give answer keys

* Answer keys: a/ Complete the sentences:

1 ……… poems, novels & songs

2 ……… long silk tunic with slits up the sides worn over loose pants

3 ……… to wear modern clothing at work

4 ……… lines of poetry on it

5 ……… symbols such as suns, stars, crosses & stripes

- Ss read the text again; discuss & work in pairs

- Ss answer & T corrects: b/ Answer the questions:

1 Traditionaly, men & women used to wear the Aodai

2 B/C it is more convenient

3 They have printed lines of poetry on it or have added symbols such

as suns, stars, crosses, and stripes to the Aodai

c) Post reading:

- Sumarize the main ideals

IV HOMEWORK:

- Learn by heart the words & do exercises

- Prepare U 2: Speak
