RULES: How to pronounce the final s, es

+ /Z/ Final -S is pronounced /Z/ after voiced sounds (b,d,g,h.m.l ) and any vowel sounds

Eg : beds dogs, cans, rooms + /S/ Final -S is pronounced /S/ after voiceless sounds (t,p,k, f, )

Eg: cats lamps , books, months + /IZ/ Final -ES is pronounced /IZ/ after s, z, ∫ , t∫, d

Eg: buses , houses , watches , pages

1 Presentation

-T asks Ss to look at the two pictures of

the two rooms and asks them what the

first room has and what the 2nd room

does not have

- T writes -Ss’s answers on the board , at the same

time asks Ss to use the “there is , there

isn’t , there are , there aren’t” structure to

make sentences

-T checks the meaning , use ,and form of

the structure

-Explains if the noun is sinular or

uncountable, we use “is” even if after

this noun there are some other plural

nouns

- Ss work in pairs

-Go round and correct mistakes or give

help when necessary
