By the end of this lesson, students will be able to…

1.1 Language knowledge/ skills

- learn some vocabulary: stethoscope, electric car, telephone, aeroplane, television, penicillin, CCTV Security Systems, World Wide Web.

- practise vocabulary for inventions that changed the world

- practise pronunciation for /eə/ and /əʊ/

- develop speaking about inventions that changed the world

- improve listening skills for key information, note taking

- Ask Ss to look at the pictures

- Play the recording, using the IWB (if any)

with pauses for Ss to repeat chorally and/or

individually

- Check Ss’ pronunciation and intonation

- Explain the task (using IWB)

- Give Ss time to complete it

- Get Ss to check their answers with their
