UNIT 3: BECOMING INDEPENDENT Lesson 3: LANGUAGE – Pronunciation: Linking between a consonant and a vowel

I.OBJECTIVES:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1 Knowledge:

- Link a final consonant and an initial vowel in connected speech.

- Illustrate the rules for linking between a consonant and a vowel.

- Pronounce linking between a consonant and a vowel.

2 Skills/Competence:

- Listen and pronounce the linking words in connected speech.

- Create a story using linking between a consonant and a vowel.

3 Attitudes/Qualities:

- Be aware of linking between a consonant and a vowel in daily conversations

-Provide Ss some motivation

- Solve problems and study by themselves.

II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, sub-board, laptop, speakers, projector.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks, ideas about activities.

III.TEACHING METHODS :

- PPP, communicative language teaching, integrated teaching

IV ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:

- Students may not be able to correctly pronounce the linking between a consonant and a vowel.

- Students may not be able to identify linking between a consonant and a vowel.

- Students may lack vocabulary related to “independent” topic.

Objective:

- Ss will be able to make a short story about topic “independent”

- T asked Ss to work in pairs to make a story about “Independent” topic with the beginning sentence using at least 3 linking between a consonant and a vowel

- T gives Ss 2 minutes to prepare
