II.Cách dùng

Thì hiện tại đơn (The simple present) là một thì rất quan trọng trong tiếng Anh và được dùng thường xuyên để diễn tả :

- Thói quen hằng ngày:

 They brush their teeth every day

- Sự việc hay sự thật hiển nhiên:

 The earth moves around the sun

- Sự việc sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai theo thời gian biểu hay lịch trình:

 The train starts at 7.00 am

- Suy nghĩ và cảm xúc tại thời điểm nói:

Tuy những suy nghĩ và cảm xúc này có thể chỉ mang tính nhất thời và không kéo dài chúng ta vẫn dùng thì hiện tại đơn chứ không dùng hiện tại tiếp diễn

III Dấu hiệu nhận biết thì hiện tại đơn

- Các trạng từ chỉ tần suất: always, usually, often, sometimes, never, rarely, seldom, hardly,

- Các trạng từ : everyday, everytweek, everynight, …

IV Cấu trúc

- Am: I

- Is: He, she, it, An, danh từ số ít, danh từ không đếm được.

- Are: we, you, they, An and Linh, danh từ số nhiều.

- Do: I, you, they, we, An and Linh, danh từ số nhiều.

- Does: he, she, it, An, danh từ số ít, danh từ không đếm được

- He, she, it, An, danh từ số ít, danh từ không đếm được + Vs/Ves

- I, you, they, we, An and Linh, danh từ số nhiều + V

V Quy tắc thêm “s” hoặc “es” vào động từ.

- Động từ tận cùng là : ch, o,s,sh,x,z thì ta thêm “es”

Ví dụ: watch -> watches Go -> goes

Doze -> does

- Động từ tận cùng là: y, ta đổi y thành i rồi thêm es:

Ví dụ: fly -> flies Cry -> cries

Tidy -> tidies

- Tất cả các động từ còn lại, ta thêm “s” :

Ví dụ: I like ice-cream

She cries when she misses her hometown

- Ngoại lệ: have -> has
