LESSON 2: SPEAK AND LISTEN

I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Talk about their study habits

- Develop speaking and listening skill

II PREPARATIONS: book, cassette tape

III PROCEDURES:

1 Warm – Up: (5’)

- Chat with students:

1 What subjects are you good at/bad at?

2 What subject do you need to improve?

3 How often do you have English?

- Have students do brainstorming: ask students to write

their ideas on the blackboard

How to improve

your English?

Suggested ideas:

1 Speak English to friends in class

2 Watch English TV

3 Read English stories

4 Do grammar exercises

5 Read English newspapers/magazines

6 Listen to the English radio program

7 Listen to English songs

2 Pre – Speaking: (8’)

- Ask students to look at the questions and the answer

cues on the page 48

1 When do you do your homework?

 I do my homework after dinner

2 Who helps you with your homework?

 My brother helps me with my homework

 I often spend half an hour on English

 I need to improve English

 I read all the lessons I have learnt, and do the grammar

exercises

- Have students ask and answer the questions in groups

- Call some students to practice before the class
