Lesson: Getting started; listen and read Period: 20

I Aims

- Ss can be able to know the words and experiments about learning English

- Focus on : listening, speaking, reading and writng skills

II Teaching aids

extraboard, cassette tape & cassette player

III Procedures :

1 Class organization (1’)

- Greeting

- Checking the attendance

2 Review of previous lesson (4’)

- Give Ss some questionaires

- Have Ss work in pair and discuss the above questions

- Do you like to learn English?

- Is English difficult or easy?

- How do you learn English?

+ Do you sometimes watch TV English programs?

+ Do you like singing English songs?

+ Do you read short stories in English?

- What did the examiner ask Lan?

- Ask Ss to give their own ways to learn English themselves

3 New lesson (35’)

* Warm – up

- Write 10 numbers on the

board, from 1 to 10

- Tell Ss each number is

for questions but 4 of them

are lucky number, they do

not need to answer any

questions but they get 2

points, and they can

choose another number

- Tell Ss that they have to

make questions about

personal information when

teacher gives them a word

as a cue

* Lucky numbers:

I Objectives:

1 Aim: Speaking to persuade someone to do something

2 Object: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to persuade someone to do something.

- Students will be able to persuade their friends to attend the school they like

- At the end of lesson, students can realize the importance of learning a foreign language, especially English

3 Skill; Speaking, listening

II Teaching aids:

Some advertisements of English language courses

III Procedures:

1 Class control.

2 Check up.

3 New lesson.

I - Warm-up

- Show some advertisements

of English language courses,

giving some eliciting

questions:

I - Chatting:

1 Do you know what there are?

2 What are they about?

3 What much you do if you want to attend the course?

4 Which school would you like to choose if you passed the exam?

Why?

- Listen and answer

II - Pre-speaking

* Pre-teaching:

- Set the scene

- Explain some new words

+ Ask Ss to scan the

information of the 3 school

ads and pick out the new

words

+ Demonstrate the new words
