UNIT 9 : PRESERVING THE ENVIRONMENT

Lesson 5: LISTENING

I OBJECTIVES :

By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

1 Knowledge:

- Language: use the vocabulary and structures they have learned to do the

activities required.

2 Skill(s): improve their listening skill by selective listening and

comprehension questions.

3 Attitude and competences:

- Improve such competencies as: pairwork, groupwork, communication,

presentation.

- Ss will be aware of protecting the environment.

II METHOD:

- Integrated, mainly communicative.

III Teaching aids:

1 Teacher: board, handouts, laptop, textbook video.

2 Students: textbook, notebook, pen

IV PROCEDURES:

Warm-up

(5 mins)

Pre-

listening

(13 mins)

- T has Ss look at the pictures and answers

to the questions in the instructions

Ex: Who are they?

What are they doing?

What are they doing for?

What do you think you are going to listen about?

- T asks them to use the caption to help them guess

Suggested answers:

The people are planting a tree.

- T leads to the lesson

- Teach new words :

*Vocabulary: (7 mins)

+ degraded (adj) /di'greid/: lower in quality.

environment by show them mind map

- Have some sts present their reports to the class

Example: I can plant trees to replace deforestation which leads to the extinction

of rare animals, and extreme floods and land erosion.

- Prepare for “Writing”
