UNIT 1: BACK TO SCHOOL SECTION A: FRIENDS (1-2)

I- OBJECTIVES:

1 Knowledge:

- By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to greet and respond to the greetings from other people; know how to introduce a new friend to other people and know more some new words

2 Skills:

- Practice speaking and listening when greeting

- Sts will be able to read a short paragraph about Hoa and answer some questions about her

3 Attitude:

- Sts will be closer to each other and get accustomed with the teacher; how to greet people politely

II- LANGUAGE CONTENT:

1 Vocabulary: classmate, also, different, unhappy, to miss, why-because

2 Grammar: Wh-questions and answer, the present simple tense

III- TECHNIQUES:

- Pair work, group work, game, question- answer

IV- TEACHING AIDS:

- Textbook, cassettes, CD, board, chalk

1 Warm-up (5’): Slap the board

- T writes 5 phrases on the

board

- T gives instruction

“ Now, you are going to play a

game called Slap the board I

will read some questions and

you have to slap these phrases

to answer the questions With

each correct answer, you will

get 1 point The team with more

points will win the game

- T divides the class into 2 teams

and asks each team to choose 5

students to play the game

- T lets sts to play the game

- T reads the questions aloud

- T asks sts to stop and

announce the winner

- T leads into the new lesson

- T asks students some

questions:

“+ Are you happy to be back to

school?

+ Do you have any new friends?

+ What do you say to your

friends when you first meet

after the summer holiday?

Today, we will learn how to

introduce others and the way to

greet and respond to the

greetings.”

- Listen to the instruction

- Choose 5 sts to join the game

- Listen to the questions and slap the answer

- Stop playing when T asks
