1 THE SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE (thì hiện tại đơn)

Affirmative form (Thể KĐ) Negative form (Thể PĐ) Question (câu hỏi)

I, You, We, They + V-o

He, She, It + Vs/ es

Subj + don’t + V-o Subj + doesn’t + V-o

Usage (cách dùng)

1 Diễn tả một hành động xảy ra thường xuyên hay một thói quen ở hiện tại (a permanent action or a habit)

- We go to school every day.

- He often leaves home at 7 in the morning and comes home at 8 in the evening.

- She goes swimming twice a week.

2 Diễn tả một sự thật hiển nhiên (a general truth)

The earth moves round the sun.

Light travels faster than sound.

Adverbs of Time:

always, usually, often, sometimes (thỉnh thoảng), seldom(ít khi), never (không bao giờ ), everyday/ week /month /Monday… , on Mondays / Tuesdays…

2 THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE (Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn)

Affirmative form (Thể KĐ) Negative form (PĐ) Question (câu hỏi)

Subj + am / is / are + V-ing Subj + am / is / are not + V-ing

( amnot, isn’t, aren’t )

(Wh) am / is / are + Subj + V-ing

Usage :

1 Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra vào lúc người ta nói (bây giờ)

- We are studying English now.

- The sun is shining today.

2 Một hành động có tính chất tạm thời (a temporary action)

- He often watches TV at night but tonight he is reading a book.

3 Một hành động ở tương lai gần (a near future action)

- I am visiting my friend tonight.

- She is leaving for London tomorrow.

Adverbs of Time :

• now, right now (ngay bây giờ), at the moment (vào lúc này ), at present (hiện nay).

• Mệnh đề sau : look !, listen !, be careful !

• Trả lời cho câu hỏi “Where’s…… ?”

Note : Các động từ (thường chỉ cảm xúc, sự ưa thích, sự hiểu biết) không dùng ở thì tiếp diễn.

know : biết smell: ngửi wish: ước mong remember:nhớ

love : thích want: muốn sound: nghe có vẻ forget: quên

like : thích taste: có vị, nếm own: làm chủ, có belong to : thuộc về

hate : ghét understand : hiểu believe : tin tưởng see : hiểu , xem

hear : nghe appear : xuất hiện seem : dương như need : cần

3 THE SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE (thì tương lai đơn)

Affirmative form (Thể KĐ) Negative form (PĐ) Question (câu hỏi)

Subj + will + V-o Subj + will not + V-o

will not =won’t (Wh) Will + Subj + V-o ……?

Usage :

Diễn tả 1 hành động hay 1 trạng thái ở tương lai ( a future action)

Ex: We will go to the beach next week.

She will be here tomorrow.

Adverbs of Time : tomorrow, tomorrow morning/ afternoon/ evening, the day after tomorrow (ngày mốt), in 4 day’s time (trong 4 ngày nữa), next week / month / year, this afternoon /evening /morning
