The first things, I want to talk about the good and successful lesson, have
many skills to teach To me, I think that the effective lesson is teacher’s endeavor in
the classroom or other situation Good teachers need to have many skills and
abilities to teach They are person who impart the knowledge for learners The
teaching activity is conducted regularly not only to help teachers develop
themselves in teaching, but also to be clear about pupils, students’ abilities of
understanding and applying what teachers conveyed Teacher’s specialist
understanding plays in an important role in educational environment To assume
responsibility for teaching students, teachers need to prepare many things before
lecturing such as: Preparation or Organization of the lesson, Classroom Procedure,
Interaction and Social Climate, Teaching Qualities
I have just observed and evaluated about your lesson (the lesson of Van and
Thuy) This is a lesson that teaches the listening skill In general, it is good lesson
You have taught and prepared very well at this skill The first evaluation, it is about
preparation and organization of the lesson This is a juncture of the lesson About
organization of lesson is excellent You have prepared teaching aids such as:
Textbook, pictures, laptop and CD, handouts, chalk and board… Knowledge of
material, you give and apply English 11 (basic) Although you have not adapted
some parts in teaching content, it helps learners have much information, especially,
when listening Appropriateness of lesson within framework of general curriculum
is good The stages are applied in the lesson, this is suitable for learners
Nevertheless, I think that you should use more clear stages because of helping
Trang 2learners understand and apply the knowledge Using of class time is not clear for
stages You have not had the suitable time for each stage In while-listening stage,
when you ask learners to listen and task one, you have spent much time for this task
and used the weak technique for power point Time is very important for teacher to
base oneself on the lesson The second problem, it is classroom procedure In this
step, pace is very necessary for teacher to take the stability of class You have paced
so clearly and linked activities each other harmoniously It helps learners acquire the
lesson and know how to move to other part About instructions and explanations of
the stages are long and unclear, for example, when you explain about post-listening
stage with long instruction, it makes learner difficult to understand them Therefore,
you should have a short and clear instruction Moreover, it has to link to your voice
Instructions and explanations need to say aloud, correctly and easily understandable
About feedback, you have not had clear feedback for learner to understand In task
one of while-listening stage, you still explain unclearly about checking the idea of
content when listening again To degree of difficulty, you have used the good level
and known learner’s ability to teach Variety of activities, you have known
adaptation in activities, example: the game for teaching first This helps learner to
relax and get more and more confident to learn However, the activities in
while-listening part are not good Learner feels bored when studying You gave the unclear
instructions and information You should adapt this part You can create the activity:
fill in blank or multiple-choice because it helps learner not see reference and answer
Contextualization in stages is clear You have given the example for each part,
especially, when you taught new words, you have contextualized easily
understandable Student involvement in the classroom process, you have made
learner’s participant in lesson by good games and activities
The third problem is interaction and social climate Interaction between
instructor and students has related the activities Nevertheless, the co-ordination is
not attractive when instructor introduces the activities; it is too long to explain for
Trang 3students Interaction among students has associated when they took part in the
activities Learners are worked in pair and group This has contributed to interesting
lesson Teacher has not balanced between addressing individual student needs and
concerns and keeping the lesson on track Students can learn better if teacher talk
about relation between the topic and the activities Students’ awareness of what is
expected of them Teacher’s responsibility communicates the knowledge for learner
Learner expects the new things from the lesson Instructor has adapted of lesson to
dynamics and flow of the class You have created the new lesson with other
activities and suitability for degree of learner’s ability Verification of student
understanding of lesson content, teacher has provided the new content from outside
knowledge This can verify learner understanding of lesson content The last
influence is teaching qualities This part performs instructor’s skills A good teacher
has many attractive methods to teach and solve every situation when applying in
lesson content In the lesson, teacher’s patience front of the class and students is
good Your confidence also is manifested front of students You have coped really
well with the activities Adaptability of teacher in the lesson content is considerate
when adapting front of the class This expressed the understanding of teacher about
content in books to apply to learner’s ability About voice, you have said loudly
enough for leaner to listen Using of language is fluent and good English model,
you have not balanced of English and Vietnamese when teaching the new words
Your pronunciation is not good You need to practice pronouncing more and more
You achieved a high level of participation by physical presence and movement
From what I presented above, it can be said that observation is dramatically
important and is an essential part in Education However, it is important, helpful,
and supportive or it may have an adverse impact, it depends on how we organize
classroom visit and which factors we apply to evaluate and how much information
we should focus on I hope that I will have much experience about what I have
learned in university after graduation
