 1st line: please indicate interval distance of screws which connect wall angle V21x21 to concrete

 5th line: with subjecting interval distance of two hangers does not exceed manufacturer’s requirement

 3rd & 4th line: starting point of the hanger is 400mm for longitudinal direction and 610mm for transverse direction But step 4 of page 20/83 is 300mm Which one will be applied?

 Interval distance of screws is 600mm to connect with the angle V21x21 to the concrete wall

1 Introduction

This method statement relates to the Ceiling work.

The project site is located in District 7, HCMC of Vietnam

We recognize that safety, health and environment (SHE) are primary premise in all decisions, being made for successful construction and shall comply with the relavant local authorities of Ho Chi Minh City, Socialist Republic of Vietnam

We will develop the construction method with the focus to avoid any harm to the health and safety of owner’s personnel, contractor employees and the public and also to minimize adverse effect to the natural and around environment

All necessary specifications, inspection and quality control will be complied with the contract documents, specification

If there is any discrepancy in the descriptions below, it will be designated by RPLLC

5.2 Preparation of works

5.2.1 Material handling, storage and delivery

i Suspended Ceiling System Materials will be delivered on site by trucks

ii Likewise Gypsum Board Materials will be delivered on site by trucks

iii Regular Gypsum Board will be delivered in separate batches and Moisture Resistant Gypsum Board will be delivered in separate batches

iv All materials will be unloaded and stored at the HBC Ground Floor Storage areas & adequately protected

v They will be placed in palettes and protected from sun or heat and rain water incursion

vi Depending on the requirement of each Tower at each floor, the suspended ceiling materials are lifted using the hoist and delivered on each floor

vii In general delivery of Suspended Ceiling Materials will be done at night time However in some circumstances they will be delivered during daytime

viii Hoisting and delivery of Suspended Ceiling Materials on each floor will also be done during day time and as required it will be done during night time

ix Store materials at designated location and

x Prevent flood by providing perimeter surface drainage if necessary

xi Boarded platform at least 75 mm off the ground and undercover are

recommended to protect contact from water and construction debris

5.2.2 Material

1 Ceiling Gypsum board : Lagyp Brand (New name is Boral)

+ Regular board of size 2440 x 1220 x 9mm, + Moisture resistant board of size 2440 x 1220 x 12.5mm,

2 Concealed Grid Ceiling Frame : Le Tran Brand

6 Working Method

6.1 Installation Method

6.1.1 Concrete Soffit Repair works :

 Prior to commencement of suspended ceiling works a joint inspection will be conducted to check the actual status of concrete structure surfaces

 The concrete soffit structure must be sound and with no apparent honeycomb either on the concrete slabs or beams

 Any honeycomb or unsound concrete must be repaired properly with approved method

 Remaining formwork, tape , nail… on the concrete soffit must be removed

 All MEP services such as Fire Fighting, Mechanical and Electrical services are installed and tested

6.1.2 Plastering & Painting works finished

 Ensure that all walls plastered & skimcoat works with 2 finish coats Also, plastering & skimcoat works at least along ceiling line inspected by KPL already prior to ceiling works

6.1.3 Preparation works

 Based on GLs & Offset lines , FFL+1000 lines marked by surveyor, Subcon for ceiling works will do lines marking for ceiling level lines on walls & lines

for suspension rod installation

 Check installed M&E items for affecting suspension rod installation & inform

relevant M&E subcontractor to rectify

 Ensure that all piping & ducting works already completed

 For the transverse direction the starting point is located 610 mm from the wall surface The succeeding point is located 800mm and spaced the same distance respectively

 Trapeze hangers or other special arrangements of suspension system will be installed to suit the layout of air conditioning ventilation ducts, sprinkler pipes, electrical conduits and all other services as required

 Drill holes on these locations for the expansion bolt size 40mm with diameter

of 5mm Clean the holes and install the expansion bolts

 Install the suspension rods Adjust the suspension rods to suit the level of the ceiling Secure them properly on the anchor bolts

 Install the Main Runners in longitudinal direction The starting Main Runner is located 400mm from the wall surface

 The succeeding Main Runner is located 800mm and spaced the same

 Next install the carring channel They are installed in the transverse direction

 Install the starting Furring bar from the wall surface The succeeding Furring

is also located and spaced the same direction

 Make final check and adjustment to suit the required ceiling height after installing the gypsum board ceiling

 For the locations of maintenance holes on the ceiling, special cut opening and runner will be provided

 As mentioned earlier, all MEP services must be installed above ceiling All services that require proper testing must be tested and certified & approved

by KPL prior to closing the ceiling It means after concealed frame installed, the whole area should be handed over to M&E Subcontractors for remaining testing and /or commissioning works to be inspected by KPL , then to be handed over back to Ceiling Subcontractors for ceiling closing works

 Area by area after getting back from M&E subcontractor with the approved M&E documents, the gypsum board ceiling will be installed

 Cut out will be provided on lighting services, fire fighting, public address, etc This exercise will be done in coordination with all MEP, contractors during

the cutting in order to avoid wrong location and wrong size

 Pencil marks, smudges or blemishes maybe removed with an art gum eraser

or with a moist cloth or sponge with mild soap Wiped off with a clean damp cloth or sponge

6.1.6 Dropped ceiling execution

Step 1: Mark the height of the ceiling

- Mark the height of ceiling with a level or a laser device Mark the height

of ceiling plane on the wall or column Normally, the marking of the ceiling height should be made beneath the ceiling boards

- Depending on the type of wall/partition, use a drill or nail hammer to fix the wall edging bars onto walls or partitions

Step 3: Ceiling division

- To ensure the even width of ceiling boards and ceiling frame, the ceiling must be properly divided, and the distance the centres of main bar

- Divide the ceiling and mark the tie suspension points

Step 4: Mark the tie suspension points

- Maximum distance between the suspension points is 1000mm;

distance between the wall to the first hook is 400mm

- In case of concrete floor, directly drill into the floor with a concrete drill, then connect with expanding wedges and 2-hole tabs and suspension ties plus slack adjusters, to the determined height of the ceiling

- In case of metal roofs, the suspention ties will be directly connected to the beams, or 2-hole tabs are used

Step 5: Install the frame

- The main bars are connected to each other by fixing the hole at the end of one bar to that of another; The starting point is located 400mm from the wall surface, the distance between two main bars is 1000mm

- The cross bars are fixed to the holes on the main bars; the distance between two secondary bars is maximum 400mm

Step 6: Align the frame

- After the frame installation is complete, adjust to align the frame for its really flat plane Use the slack adjusters to set the ceiling height in accordance with the height initially marked on the walls or columns

Step 7: Fix the boards onto the frame

- Fix the ceiling boards onto the aligned frame as per the ceiling board dimensions normally used:

- After the ceiling boards are fixed, align them for the ceiling plane really flat

- Clamps should be used to hold the light ceiling boards; clamps must be used for each side, and 1 clamp for each corner of the board

- Cut the ceiling boards: To cut boards 4 mm thick, use a fine-toothed saw

or a knife

- For boards over 6 mm thick, use a hand shears (rubber coated glove)

Step 8: Acceptance and delivery

- Align the ceiling after the board fixing is completed; clean the place of execution

- Check that all jobs are complete

- Prepare for acceptance and delivery

7.0 Quality control

Samples and test certificates of all materials shall be submitted for approval prior to use on site Sample construction shall be carried out prior to work on site and shall be witnessed by consultant, owner

7.1 Quality Management :

 Construction management by standard - technical standards

 Detailed planning and action by process

 Materials are to be inspected on delivery

 When there is any damage

 Material shall be protected after installation

 Surface flatness shall be controlled to be less than 2mm deviation per 1m

7.2 Quality Check :

Check floor substrate ( MEP line through, crack lines , unevenness , slope ) &

ensure that to have defects repaired prior to installation

Variation in plan between adjacent board pieces not exceed 1.5mm

7.3 Process Management:

 Draw up construction plan feed back &fulfill

 Risk Management: block the delay items before hand by, examine drawings closely

 Send in shop design in site to make systematize drawing & fast responded because

of incomplete drawing

 Each process to be followed by ITP

 Continuous repetition of each process to be controlled on site

7.3 Main check points in each process

 Spacing between expansion bolt less than 1000mm.

 Tolerance of main runner spacing and cross runner spacing is +/- 2mm.
