1 Thoughts and feeling: think, like, hope

ex: I think Mary is living in a big family

2 1 sự thật, sự việc hiển nhiên, nhưng sự thật đúng trong 1 thời gian dài:

EX: The Earth moves around the Sun

I live with my parent

5 Trong câu hỏi phủ định mang nghĩa đề

nghị, mời mọc:

Why don't we go out?

4 Với các cụm từ như I promise, I agree, I wish

I promise I'll pay you back

I agree you are right

3. Chỉ hành động lặp đi lặp lại, thói quen

hàng ngày:

I get up at 6.00 every morning

My mother prepares meal at 11.00 am

6 Thì hiện tại đơn mang nghĩa tương lai

Dấu hiệu nhận biết:

* Khi trong câu có các trạng từ chỉ tần suất: always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, seldom, everyday/ week/ month/ year, once (a week, …), three time (a day, …)

* Vị trí của trạng từ chỉ tuần suất trong câu:

- Các trạng từ: always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, seldom - đứng

trước động từ thường, đứng sau động từ “to be” và trợ động từ

Ví dụ:

- He rarely goes to school by bus (Anh ta hiếm khi đi học bằng xe bus) She is usually at home in the evening (Cô ấy thường ở nhà vào buổi tối.)
