• How can we define quality
– in a car (compare a Toyota Corolla to a BMW to a
Rolls Royce)
– In a meal (compare MacDonalds to Shark Fin House
to the Hilton)
• Quality has
– a range of dimensions
– That may be assessed from different viewpoints

• The quality of an IS project was assessed:
– On time
– Within budget
• Using this definition, many IS projects have poor quality
• Is there a more sophisticated view of IS project quality?
– How low can we aim?

• Is the system fit for purpose? We need to document the purpose of the system in the requirements

– Quality assurance
– Quality control
