Period 2 STARTER HELLO! (Lesson 2)

Week 1

I Aim:

* By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Give and respond to greetings and introductions,

- Speaking skills

II Language content:

1 Vocabulary: class Book characters, greetings

2 Structure: What’s your name?

Who’s this?

III Method of teaching

Focus: Listening – Speaking

IV Teaching aid

- CD tracks 1-3, story poster Starter Unit

- Hello flashcards 1-4

V Procedure:

1 Warm up: Greeting and repeat the story

2 Presentation:

* Teacher:

- Encourage Ss to greet each other

- Show the flashcards again and elicit the names of the characters

- Show the story poster again and ask Ss to repeat the story

- Play recording 3 again

- Get Ss to do the actions as they say the story

* Students:

- Say hello to their friends

- Say the names

- Listen and repeat

- Do the action

3 Practice: Ask and answer the name

* Teacher:

- Show children opening the Class Book to page 5

Say Look at the pictures, indicating the pictures of the boys

- Read and model the dialogue,

- Pause for children to repeat

Read the dialogue with one of the stronger students

- Put Ss in pairs to practice it themselves

* Students:

* Practice:

4 Personalization: Vocabulary practice

- Do exercise 1, 2

- Put students in pairs to

* Role play:

- Ask Ss to work with a different partner Have volunteers act out the dialogue in front of the class

* Students:

- Pair work

- Practice the story

- Practice the dialogue from Exercise again, but this time substituting their own names Then they shut their books and do it from memory

5 Homework:

* Old lesson: say hello, tell the name, exercise 1,2 (page 5)

* Prepare: number 1  10, days of a week
