I/ Educational aim: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Read for specific information to understand the passage

- Express their advantages and disadvantages of robots

Scan the news and say what will have happened by the end of the 21st century

Unit 2: SPEAKING Talking about the things to happen in the future

2 Before you speak Task 1 look at the newspaper cuttings from the future

 Cold war: the fighting against a cold

 Holiday maker: a person who organizes the tours

 By the end of the 21st century, Chinese astronauts will have landed on mars

3 While you speak Task2: Which of these predictions are likely / unlikely to

happen? Give at least two reason for it

- I think it’s likely that scientists will have found a cure for the common cold by the end of the 21st century thanks

to the development of science and technology

- In my opinion, it’s unlikely that by the end of the 21st

century people will be living to the age of 150 because there will be more and more diseases

- … because living standards will be / have been improved
