THAILAND

Thailand is an independent country that lies in the heart of Southeast Asia It is one of the countries of the Association of South East Asian Nations The country has an area of 513,115 sq km Thailand enjoys tropical climate The Thai unit of currency is the Baht.

The largest city in Thailand is Bangkok, the capital, which is also the country’s center of political, commercial, industrial and cultural activitives.

Thailand is divided into 75 provinces, which are gathered into 5 groups of provinces by location The population of Thailand is now 61.5 million, about 10 million of whom live

in the capital city of Bangkok According to the last census, 94.7% of the total

population are Buddhists of the Theravada tradition Muslims are the second largest religious group in Thailand at 4.6% the official language of Thailand is Thai It’s the pricipal language of education and government and spoken throughout the country.

The country is well- known for the tourist destinations such as Pattaya, bangkok, and Phuket.
