1 Relative pronouns (Đại từ quan hệ )

* Who: người mà -Thay thế cho một danh từ chỉ người đứng ngay trước nó

(câu 1) và làm chủ ngữ cho câu 2 ( She, He, They)

EX: 1.This is the girl She is very good at Math

 This is the girl who is very good at Math

2 That man is a doctor He is talking to our teacher.

 That man, Who is talking to our teacher, is a doctor

* Which: cái mà, điều mà -Thay thế cho một danh từ chỉ vật đứng ngay

trước nó (câu 1) làm chủ ngữ cho câu 2

( It, They)/ làm O cho câu 2 ( it, them)

EX: 1.This is the book It is very interesting

 This is the book Which is very interesting

2 The house was very cheap My uncle bought it last week

 The house Which my uncle bought last week was very cheap

* Whom: người mà Thay thế cho một danh từ chỉ người đứng ngay trước nó

(câu 1) và làm tân ngữ cho câu 2 ( her, him, them)

EX: The man is our new teacher We met him in the school-gate yesterday.

 The man Whom we met in the school-gate yesterday is our new teacher.

* That: điều mà, cái mà, người mà -Thay thế cho: Who, Whom, Which – trong

mệnh đề quan hệ xác định

- MĐ không xác định ( non-defining relative clause): là mệnh đề không cần có – Câu vẫn dủ nghĩa (được ngăn cách bởi dấu ” ,”)

EX: Mrs Yen, Who lives in Hoang Tan village, is our form teacher.

- MĐ xác định ( defining relative clause): là mệnh đề cần có – nếu không có

Mệnh đề đó  Câu không rõ nghĩa.( ko có dấu ,)

EX: The book Which I borrowed yesterday is very interesting.

That I borrowed yesterday
