 Presentation

Situation:

Minh: what are you doing, Lan?

Lan: Today is An’s birthday I think

I’m going to give her a small cassette

player And you?

Minh: I don’t know because I forgot

her birthday Does she have any

Lan: No, she doesn’t

Minh: So, I will buy one for her.

Guiding question:

1 In the second line, did the speaker

plan to give her friend a small

cassette player before she talked?

2 In the last line, did the speaker

plan to buy a record before this

conversation or during it?

 Will

Form:

S + am/is/are + going to + V

(bare-inf)

S + Will + V (bare-inf)

Usage:

+ “Going to” is used to express a

future intention or decision thought

about before the moment of speaking.

+ “Will” is used to make offers or

predictions made at the moment of

speaking

 Practice:

Exercise 1: Underline the correct

form of the verbs:
