I Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

Express agreements and disagreements about entertainment activities and give some reasons for their statements

II Materials: handouts, blackboard, textbook

III Anticipated problems:

Students may not have enough vocabulary to talk about the topic “recreation”; therefore, teacher should help them know more words

IV: Procedures

Warm-up

10 mins

- T greets the class:

- T asks some students to go to the board and write new

words which they learned in the last lesson

-T spends 1 minute for Sts to write new words

- T checks new words and gives Sts marks

- T shows an image of camping and asks Sts:

+ What are they doing?

+Do you like camping? Why

- Greet their teacher

- Go to the board and write new words

-Listen to their teacher

- Look at the image and answer their teacher’s questions

- T: To know how to express your agreements and

disagreements, we start our lesson today:

- Listen to the teacher and write the title of the lesson on their notebook

-T introduces task 1

Task 1 The following are some phrases that

can be used to express agreement or disagreement.

Put (A) beside an expression of agreement and (D)

beside an expression of disagreement (7 mins)

- T asks Sts to read the requirement of task 1

- T explains the task

- T asks Sts to read through all the phrases and work in

pairs to decide which expressions show agreement and

which expressions show disagreements

-T spends 2 mins for Sts to decide

-T goes around the class to provides help if necessary

-T calls some Sts to go to the board to write their

answers

-T asks Sts to read the dialogue silently and underline

the new words if they have

-T reads the dialogue with a good student as a model

-Listen to their teacher

- Read the requirement of task 1

- Read through all the expressions

- Work in pairs

- Write their answers

-T asks Sts to practice speaking the dialogue in pairs

-T spends 3 mins for Sts to practice reading

-T goes around the class to observe and provide help if

necessary

-When time is up, T calls some pairs to practice

speaking

-T listens to their students and gives comments about

voice, speed of speaking

- T makes another dialogue as a model:

Example:

A: Let’s go camping.

B: Yes, I agree with you We can enjoy spectacular

scenery in the countryside

C: I don’t think that’s good idea If we go there, we’ll

have to hire the bus, and it costs a lot of money

- T asks Sts to make other dialogues and practice with

their friends

- Practice speaking the dialogue in pairs

-Speak the dialogue

-Listen to their friends and teacher’s comments

- Listen to their teacher’s dialogue

- Make other dialogues

After-speaking

-T: after practicing task 2 and 3, you have known some

structures to talk about a hobby, let’s practice task 4

Task 4: Report your discussion to the class.

Do you agree or disagree to go camping at last?

Why? Or why not?

-T calls 1 student to read aloud and explain the

requirement of task 4

- T gives example:

A: We go camping because we can get close to nature.

We can have a lot of outdoor activities and can become

more active

B: We don’t want to go camping because if we go

camping for two days We will have to hire the bus

which is expensive Moreover, we’ll have to sleep in

-Listen to their teacher

-Read and explain the requirement of task 4

- Listen to their teacher’s example

the tent which makes us sick and can’t go to school the

next day

-T asks Sts to work in pairs to discuss and write the

report

-T spends 3 mins for Sts to discuss and write their

report

-When time is up, T calls some pairs to speak out their

dialogue
