UNIT 4: IN THE BEDROOM

Lesson 1

I Objectives:

* By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Identify the letter D, sound /d/

- Listen and identify some words duck, door, dog and desk.

- Develop some following competences:

+ Communicative and collaborative competence: Activity 1

+ Problem-solving competence: Activity 1

+ Self-studying and self-control competence: remember and pronounce new words (Activity 2, Activity 3)

+ Problem-solving and creative competence: pronounce new word from each picture (Activity 2, Activity 3)

* Language focus:

- Vocabulary: D/d, duck, dog, door and desk

- Sentence patterns:

+ Incomplete ss: can know and remember some words about the topic

+ Well-completed ss: can know and remember all the words about the topic

II Materials:

- Teacher’s aids: Student’s and Teacher’s book, pictures cassette, interactive board

- Students aids: books, notebooks and workbooks

III Methods:

Communicative Approach, Pictures, Picture cue drill, Audio Lingual Method,

Presentation-Practice-Production, teaching methods with games pair work and group work

IV Teaching activities:

❖ Activity 1: ( 5 minutes)

● Warm up: Introduce things

* Content: Review the sentence This is my _ in Unit 3

*Procedure:

- Give pupils some flashcards (of a hat, bag, apple, can, car, cup) and let him/her

introduce them, e.g This is my bag.

Activity 2: (15 minutes)

1 Listen and repeat (presentation )

*Content:

- Ss look at the pictures and get to know the meaning

- Set the scene

- T asks ss to look the picture and gives meaning

- T models (3 times)

- Ss listen and repeat

+ Choral repetition (3 times)

+ Individual repetition (3 ss).

- Ss read the words individually

- Ss work in pairs to practice

- T calls some open pairs

- T checks spelling for ss

- Well-completed ss practice Incomplete ss listen

❖ Activity 3: (12 minutes)

2.Point and say: (Practice)

*Content:

- Ss practice saying the letter D/d and the words duck, dog, door and desk.

* Procedure:

- T describes the picture again

- Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to pronounce the words

- Ss work in pairs or in groups to point to the picture and say the sound of the letter D/d

and the words

- Two or three pupils to point to the picture and say aloud in front of the class

Consolidation (3 minutes)

*Content:

- Summary the lesson

* Procedure:

- T asks students to answer the following questions:

+ What have you learnt from the lesson today?

+ What are the core values of the lesson? (if the teacher can take from the lesson)

- T reviews the letter D/d and the words duck, door, dog and desk

● Praising some ss who are hardworking / active/ good… as well as encourage others to try more

● Giving feedback

● Home link

- T gives instructions

- Ss learn by heart vocabulary

- Ss prepare the new lesson U1, L2:4, 5, 6 (P18)

UNIT 4: IN THE BEDROOM

Lesson 2

I Objectives:

* By the end of the lesson, students will be able to :

- Say the letter D/d and the words duck, dog, door and desk and the phrases a duck, a dog

a door and a desk in a chant.

- Listen and identify the words A duck and a dog; A door and a desk.

- Trace the letter B/b

- Develop some following competences:

+ Communicative and collaborative competence: work in pairs ( Activity 3)

+ Problem-solving competence: revise vocabulary, work in pairs (Activity 1, Activity 3) + Self-studying and self-control competence: use new words to chant, use knowledge to

do exercise (Activity 2, Activity 3)

+ Problem-solving and creative competence: listen and tick right boxes, trace the letter correctly (Activity 3, Activity 4)

* Language focus:

- Vocabulary: D/d, duck, dog, door and desk

- Sentence patterns: the phrases a duck, a dog, a door and a desk.

+ Incomplete ss: can listen some key words, tick correct answers in Activity 3 and trace the letter D/d in Activity 4

+ Well-completed ss: listen all the words in the chant and tick the correct boxes They can understand and read aloud that they listen in Activity 3, trace letter D/d in correction

II Materials:

- Teacher’s aids: Student’s and Teacher’s book, pictures cassette, interactive board

- Students aids: books, notebooks and workbooks

III Methods:

Pictures, Picture cue drill, grammar Translation Method, Audio Lingual Method, sing

along, pair work, Communicative approach, teaching methods with game

IV Teaching activities:

❖ Activity 1: (5 minutes)

● Warm up: revising vocabulary

* Content: Students review the vocabulary in lesson 1.

*Procedure:

- Ss point to the picture/poster and pronounce the sound of the letter D/d and say the words duck, dog, door, desk.

❖ Activity 2: ( 10 minutes)

3.Listen and chant:

*Content:

- Students listen to the tape and chant

* Procedure:

- Set the scene

- T reads the chant, checks comprehension and gives meaning

- Play the recording 2 times for ss to listen and repeat until they feel confident

- T shows ss how to chant and clap hands

- Ss listen and repeat the chant individually and in chorus.

- Select some ss to the front of the class to chant and clap their hands The rest of the class may sing the chant along and clap their hands

❖ Activity 3: ( 10 minutes)

4.Listen and tick

*Content:

- Students listen to the tape and tick the correct answers

* Procedure:

- Set the scene

- T gets ss to describe 4 pictures

- T asks Ss to guess the answers

- Ss listen to the tape (twice) and tick the correct answers

- Ss do exercise and share their answers with their partner

- T calls some Ss to tell their answers

- Ss listen to the tape again to check their answers

- T gives feedback

- Well-completed Ss: read the words they‘ve listen.

- Incomplete Ss: give answers

❖ Activity 4: ( 7 minutes)

5 Look and trace

*Content:

- Ss observe and trace the letter D/d

* Procedure:

- T introduces the content

- T shows the model tracing

- Let ss do the tracing

- Ss exchange and comment notebooks

Consolidation (3 minutes)

*Content:

- Summary the lesson

* Procedure:

- T asks students to answer the following questions:

+ What have you learnt from the lesson today?

+ What are the core values of the lesson? (if the teacher can take from the lesson): Ss can chant, listen and tick the correct boxes, and trace the letter D/d.

● Praising some ss who are hardworking / active/ good… as well as encourage others to try more

● Giving feedback

● Home link

- T introduces contents of pictures

- Ss look at the sentences and get to know the meaning

* Procedure:

- Set the scene

- T asks ss to look the sentences, gives meaning and how it is used

- T models (3 times)

- Ss listen and repeat

+ Choral repetition (3 times)

+ Individual repetition (3 ss).

- Ss read the sentences individually

- Ss work in pairs to practice

- T calls some open pairs

- T checks spelling for ss

❖ Activity 4: (7 minutes)

8.Let’s sing:

*Content:

- Ss sing the song

* Procedure:

- T shows the song on the screen

- T reads the lyrics of song for ss

- T reads each sentence and asks ss to repeat after the teacher

- Ss repeat after the teacher

- Ss listen to the tape and sing

- Ss work in groups to sing

- T calls some Ss to sing the song

*Note: In groups, - Well-complete Ss will help the Incomplete Ss.
