UNIT 9: FESTIVALS AROUND THE WORLD

LESSON 5: SKILLS 1

I OBJECTIVES

1 Knowledge:

By the end of the lesson, students can:

- read for general and specific information about the twin day festival

- talk about a festival that they joined

- Vocabulary: twin, perform, performance, feature, parade

2 Competence:  Students can work in group, independent working, pair work,

linguistic competence, cooperative learning and communicative competence

3 Attitude: Ss will love the festivals in the country and in the world more

II TEACHING AIDS ( & MARERIALS)

1 Materials: Textbooks, lesson plan, ppt file

2 Equipment: computer accessed to the Internet, TV screen

III PROCEDURE:

Activity 1(5 minutes) : warm up: Answer the question

Goal Students can know the content of the lesson

Input -Three pictures

-Question: Which events do you think happen at the Twins Day Festival?

Procedure -T asks Ss to look at three pictures carefully

-T asks Ss work in pairs and guess which events they think happen at the Twins Day Festival

- T asks some pairs to give the answers

- T gives answers and leads to the lesson

Activity 2 ( 13 minutes) : Match each word from the email with its meaning Goal Student can know some information about the Twins Day

Goal The activity aims at helping student to know the way how to ask and

answer about a festival someone joined

- using the vocabulary, information and structures from the activity 4- match the questions and answers

Tense: Simple Past Structure:

No, I didn’t like it because ……… (reasons)

Outcome Part 5: Students’ answers

Procedure - T explains the task

- T divides class into 4 groups to write ideas for questions given in papers (2 festivals)

- T monitors and helps students with vocabulary

- T calls students in groups to present ideas in front of class

- T checks students’ answers and gives comments

- T asks Ss to ask and answer questions about festival in pairs

- T asks Ss to take notes partner’s answers in handouts

- T checks Ss’ answers and gives feedback
