International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), and English

What are the requirements?

 Students must be between the ages of 14-18

 Students must have completed the equivalent of 9th grade in their

home country in good standing

 Students should, in general, have a minimum English score of SLEP 40,

ELTiS 225, TOEFL 65, or TOEFL Jr overall score of 700

 Students should apply through one of our cooperating placement

agencies/organizations (listed on the right)

What is the cost to attend CIBA?

 For the 2020-2021school year, the tuition for the 10 month

academ-ic year is $19,300 USD (half year tuition is $10,800 USD-first

semes-ter only)

 Tuition includes medical and sports physicals, school uniforms, use

of a school issued laptop, field trips including college trips, testing

fees, school breakfasts/lunches, and student activity fees

 Room and board with a local homestay family is not included and

will be set by the cooperating agency

 Additional insurance and fees to the placement agency are per

agency requirements

APPLYING TO THE CONNECTICUT IB ACADEMY (CIBA)

1 Review the information in this brochure and on our website at ciba.easthartford.org Read the testimonials from our former stu-dents to ensure that CIBA is the right match for you

2 Complete the admission application through one of our cooperating placement agencies (listed below)

3 Pay the application fee to the placement agency

4 Participate in an interview with CIBA administration

5 Upon acceptance, await admission information and homestay place-ment information from the placeplace-ment agency through which you applied

6 Pay all tuition (to CIBA) and fees according to the terms of the placement agency

7 Upon receipt of the I-20, pay the SEVIS I-901 fee as instructed

8 Apply for a student F-1 visa (the placement agency may assist you with this)

9 Remain in contact with the placement agency throughout the pro-cess to ensure a smooth transition to your host family and enroll-ment in CIBA

International students attending CIBA MUST enroll in a full course

of study for at least one semester, maintain a minimum grade point average, participate fully in the academic, extra-curricular and social life at CIBA, and abide by all U.S Customs and Immigration Service regulations.
