1 SCOPE

1.1 Application

This specification covers the general requirements for fiber optic telecommunication cables used for indoor/outdoor application

1.2 Cable Description

1) Single-Unit, Distribution Cable (2~12 Fibers)

Tight buffered fiber, dielectric strength member and PVC / LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket

2) Multi-Unit, Distribution Cable (18~144 Fibers)

Tight buffered sub-unit cables, dielectric central strength member (CSM), PVC / LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket

2 OPTICAL FIBER

The optical, geometrical and mechanical performance of the optical fiber shall be in accordance with Table 1 and Table 2 below

The construction of the cable shall be in accordance with Table 3 and Table 4 below

Unless otherwise requested by the customer, all single mode sub-unit jackets are yellow, all

50 Multi Mode and 62.5 Multi Mode sub-unit jackets are orange

The identification code & number is printed on the sub-unit jacket repeatedly

(every 10 cm)

4.3 Outer jacket color

Unless otherwise requested by the customer, all single mode outer cable jackets are yellow,

all 50 Multi Mode and 62.5 Multi Mode outer cable jackets are orange

If the optical fiber cable will be used outside, the outer cable jacket will be black

5 PHYSICAL / MECHANICAL / ENVIRONMENTALPERFORMANCE

5.1 Temperature Range

For the cables covered by this specification, the following temperature ranges apply:

1) Riser Cable

- Storage/Shipping temperature range : -40 to 65℃

- Installation temperature range : -20 to 50℃

- Operating temperature range : -20 to 50℃

2) Plenum and General Purpose Cable

- Storage/Shipping temperature range : -40 to 65℃

- Installation temperature range : 0 to 50℃

- Operating temperature range : 0 to 50℃

5.2 Mechanical and Environmental Performance of the Cable

The mechanical and environmental performance of the cable shall be in accordance with Table 6 below Unless otherwise specified, all attenuation measurements required in this section shall be performed and at 1550nm for single mode fiber

Tensile Loading

and Bending Test

# Test method: TIA/EIA-455-33A - Mandrel diameter: 30D (D = cable diameter) - Short term tensile load:

2~12 Fiber cable : 660N for 30 minutes

18 ~144 Fiber cable :1320N for 30 minutes - Long term tensile load : 25% tensile load for 10 minutes

# Acceptance Criteria - Fiber strain: Less than 60% of the fiber proof strain

for short term tensile load - Attenuation increment: ≤ 0.30 dB at 1300nm (MM) ≤ 0.20 dB at 1550nm (SM) for long term tensile load

Compressive Loading

Resistance Test

# Test method: TIA/EIA-455-41A - Applied load: 500 N/10cm for 2~12 Fiber cable

1000 N/10cm for 18~144 Fiber cable - Duration of loading: 10 minutes

# Acceptance Criteria - Attenuation increment: ≤ 0.30 dB at 1300nm (MM) ≤ 0.20 dB at 1550nm (SM)

Repeated Impact Test

# Test method: TIA/EIA-455-25B - Height of impact: 150mm - Drop hammer mass: 0.5kg for 2~12 Fiber cable 2kg for 16~144 Fiber cable - No of impact cycles: 20 cycles

# Acceptance Criteria - Attenuation Increment: ≤ 0.30 dB at 1300nm (MM) ≤ 0.20 dB at 1550nm (SM) - No jacket cracking and fiber breakage

Cyclic Flexing Test

# Test method: TIA/EIA-455-104A - Sheave diameter: 20D (D = cable diameter) - No of flexing cycles: 25 cycles

- Flexing speed: 30 cycles/minute

# Acceptance Criteria - Attenuation Increment: ≤ 0.30 dB at 1300nm (MM) ≤ 0.20 dB at 1550nm (SM) - No jacket cracking and fiber breakage

Cable Twist Test

# Test method: TIA/EIA-455-85A - Cable length twisted: 2m - No of twist cycles: 10 cycles - Twist angle: ±180˚

# Acceptance Criteria - Attenuation Increment: ≤ 0.30 dB at 1300nm (MM) ≤ 0.20 dB at 1550nm (SM) - No jacket cracking and fiber breakage

Temperature Cycling Test

# Test method: TIA/EIA-455-3A - Temperature cycling schedule Riser Cable:25℃→ -20℃→ 50℃→ -20℃→ 50℃→ 25℃ Plenum, General Purpose Cable: 25℃→ 0℃→ 50℃→ 0℃→ 50℃→ 25℃

- Soak time at each temperature: 24hours

# Acceptance Criteria -.Attenuation Increment:≤ 0.50dB/km at 1300nm (MM) ≤ 0.30dB/km at 1550nm (SM)

Flammability Test

# General Purpose Cable: The cable shall comply with UL-1581, IEEE 383,IEC 332-1

# Riser Cable: The cable shall comply with UL-1666, IEEE 383,IEC 332-3 Category C

# Plenum Cable: PVC Sheath Cable only

The cable shall comply with UL-910, IEEE 383, IEC 332-3

6 PACKING AND MARKING

6.1 Cable Marking

The jacket shall be marked at intervals of one meter with following information

1) Length marking

2) KRONE

3) Cable type

4) Fiber type & counts

5) UL Marking

6) Year of manufacture

6.2 Cable Packing

6.2.1 Standard length of cable shall be 1km Other cable length is also available if required by customer

6.2.2 Each length of the cable shall be wound on a separate wooden reel or plywood reel

6.2.3 Both ends of the cable shall be sealed with a suitable plastic cap or a suitable plastic tape to prevent the entry of moisture during shipping, handling and storage

6.2.4 Wood-fiber board or circumference battens shall be laid on cable between flanges and fixed

by steel bands

6.2.5 The cable ends shall be securely fastened to the reel to prevent the cable from becoming loose in transit or during placing operations

6.3 Cable Reel

6.3.1 The sticker information on the spool

(1) Length of cable in meters

(2) Cable type and fiber counts

(3) Gross weight in kilograms

(4) KRONE

(5) Year of manufacture

6.3.2 Details given below shall be distinctly marked on a weather proof materials on both outer sides of the reel flange:

(1) Reel number

(2) Arrow showing the direction the drum shall be rolled

6.3.3 The cable shall be wound on the reel designed to prevent damages during shipment and installation
