BINGO
* Aim: Help Ss review the previous
knowledge
* Tool: Powerpoint.
* Steps:
- T makes a copy of a blank Bingo
card for each student
- Ss fill in the past form of any
regular verbs from the list below (one
inside each square) in any order
- T tells students they can yell out
“Bingo!” when they have 2
horizontal/ vertical/ diagonal line
checked off
- T uses the list to call out the base
form of the regular verbs in a random
order, one by one
- Ss can check off the past verbs that
match

* Aim: To help Ss get adapt with new
knowledge and comprehend it
* Tool: Powerpoint.
* Steps:
- T introduces new kind of past tense
verbs (irregular verbs)
- T shows each type and its verbs
(V1-V2-V3) and example on the
screen
- T requires Ss to remember V1 and
V2 (V3 is not compulsory)
- When finish, T invites some Ss to
make sentences with 1 irregular past
tense verbs
*Learning outcome:
There are about 200 irregular verbs in English We can divide these into four types:
1 Verbs which have the same base form,
past simple and past participle.
Ex: cost – cost - cost hit – hit – hit read – read – read put – put – put
- “Our car cost a lot of money but it’s always breaking down.”
- “My parents have let me stay out late tonight.”
2 Verbs which have the same past simple

the irregular past tense verbs and past participle.
Ex: bring – brought – brought have – had – had
find – found – found make – made – made
- “Tim has sent an email to all the suppliers.”
- “Who won the match?” – “The Giants.”
3 Verbs which have the same base form
and past participle.
Ex: come – came – come become – became – become run – ran - run
- “He came back home at 4 a.m on Saturday.”
- “Suzi has become the Managing Director.”
4 Verbs which have a different base form,
past simple and past participle.
Ex: be – was/were – been
go – went – gone swim – swam – swum
- “The kids ate a lot of cakes at the party.”
- “They drove to the airport and left their car there.”
2 PRACTICE (12’)
