UNIT 9: NATURAL DISASTERS LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED – LISTEN AND READ

I OBJECTIVES:

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to get the information about weather (from the weather forecast on TV or the radio)

III PROCEDURE:

TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES

1/ Warm up : (7’) Getting started

- Show 4 pictures (textbook page 74), one by one

+What are they ?

+How do we stay out of them ?

 Lead to the lesson

- Observe Listen and answer the T's questions

+They are some natural disasters but they damage human life.

+Thank to the weather forecast on the radio or on TV.

2/ Presentation: (12’) Activity 1: Pre-teach vocabulary

- Use some pictures to introduce new words

I OBJECTIVES:

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know what should be prepared for a typhoon, and get to know some ideas on how to live with earthquakes through sentence completion

exercise

II PREPARATION: tape and pictures about earthquakes

III PROCEDURE:

TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES

1/ Warm-up: (7’)

- Ask Ss to answer some questions

1 Have there been any typhoons in our country?

2 What should we do when there is a typhoon?

 Now check what preparations you think should be

made for a typhoon

- Work in groups and give answers

- Listen

2/ Pre–speaking: (10’)

- Introduce the new words
