A little bit of history The sport of swimming is first reported around 7000 years ago: Some cave paintings have been discovered which depict men swimming in an Egyptian cave The first written report
of the sport of swimming come from the period of 2000 B.C
But only in 1800 did swimming become a competitive sport in Europe, above all in backstroke
Freestyle swimming appeared later In 1896, these two styles
of swimming appeared in the first Olympic Games in Athens

Trang 10Dear Tot,
We are Jenny, Alice and Danny
and we are siblings who are 10,
12 and 13 years old School is
almost over and we are looking
for a job for the summer Our
parents want us to work in their
garden and paint the balcony of
our house, and do the same for
our neighbours, too! We don’t
like the idea very much and
we’re looking for something a
little more fun! Can you suggest
something?
Jenny Alice Danny
Dear Jenny, Alice and Danny,
There are lots of interesting and fun jobs that you can do You could become a dog-sitter Have you ever thought about doing that? You could offer
a daily or hourly service: if someone needs to go away for a few days and he doesn’t know who to leave his dog with, you could look after
it, feed it, take it for walks and play with it together Obviously you need a nice garden, you need to love animals and, above all, you need to find out everything you can about looking after such special "clients" Just a word of advice: because you are so young, you should look after just small dogs! It’s one thing to take a Chihuahua for
a walk, but it’s another thing entirely to walk a dog which weighs more than you!
Good luck!

Small beginnings …
The Green Man Festival is a 4
day festival of independent
music, which is held from 15th
to 18th August this year in the
Brecon Beacons area of Wales
It began 10 years ago as a
one-day event with an audience of
300 people Since then it has
transformed into one of the
most important music festivals
in the UK, hosting hundreds of
different bands and acts on 9
different stages!
It has become the biggest
festival in Wales and can now
welcome up to 20,000 people!
This year the festival will
host well-known bands such
as Band of Horses, Local
Natives and The Horrors, but
the festival is not only about
music In fact, what makes
the festival unique* is its
dedication to other forms
of entertainment, like film,
comedy, literature, art and
even science!
Green Music
The Green Man Festival promotes the care of nature and our planet, in fact this it
at the heart of everything the festival does They have a team
of volunteers* who collect litter* and keep the festival site clean and tidy The litter that they collect is sorted* and recycled in order to keep the festival as “green” as possible
The festival organisers are also promoting alternative ways of travelling to the festival They have introduced a “Green Bus”
which travels to the centre
of the festival from most city destinations, which will reduce the number of individual cars used! There is also a free shuttle* bus service for those who travel by train
A Family Festival
The festival is not only eco-friendly, but family-friendly too It has a special camping area for families and it has dedicated certain areas for the site to its younger audience
“Somewhere” is the adult-free* zone for teenagers where you can learn how to beatbox*, interview a band or even make your own film!
In the area called “Little Folk”, young people up to the age
of 12 can join in with a range
of activities from storytelling
to fun rides, inflatables* and football!
