CREATE A TOTAL ASSEMBLY DRAWING WITH BOM AS A NOTE
Select the Create new object icon Choose Drawing from the New dialog box Enter the name roller_chain Click OK button
Accept ROLLER_CHAIN.ASM as default model, and click Browse button to pick
b.frm format
Click OK button
Create FRONT, TOP, RIGHT-SIDE, and ISOMETRIC views of the roller chain assembly as shown below
Trang 2Under Model view names, select FRONT from the list Click Apply
Trang 3Select Scale, then choose
Select View Display Set the Display style to
No Hidden Click OK
Be sure to unlock the view movement
Add the projection views for TOP and RIGHT SIDE views as shown in the next page Also create ISOMETRIC view with scale 2.5 at the upper right corner of the drawing
Trang 4Double click the TOP view, select View Display
Set the Display style to No Hidden
From Insert pull-down menu, select
Dimension -> New References
Or click Pick the upper left corner and upper right corner points Middle-click the location above the front view Select
Horizontal for the type of displayed dimension
Add two more dimensions as shown below
Trang 5To add a Bill of Materials (BOM) to the drawing, create a BOM file in Assembly mode
by choosing
From the Pro/ENGINEER Info down menu, select Bill of
pull-Materials
Click the OK button
Bom Report: ROLLER_CHAIN information window appears in the graphics area
Trang 6Click the Sash control bar to return back to drawing mode
To Add a BOM to a Drawing as a Note
Click or choose pull-down menu
Insert -> Note.Click here!
Trang 7Click File under Note Types menu
Click Make Note Select a location for the note (BOM) to appear e.g upper left corner of drawing area
In the file browser, change the Type to All Files (*) and pick
roller_chain.bom
Click the Open button
The BOM appears on the drawing
Note: When adding a BOM to a drawing as a note, justify the note using Default or Left If you use Center or Right, the system might format the BOM incorrectly on the drawing
Trang 8To change the font type and text height of the note, select pull-down menu,
Format -> Text Style Pick Box to choose the entire text

Click the Apply and OK

Trang 9If necessary, move the views by unlocking it first – click to unlock the view
Add the necessaryNotein the title block.
To move the text note, click the text, and move it to desired location

The Sheets command in the DRAWING menu can be used to create multiple sheets drawings To Add a new drawing sheet to the end of the drawing,
From Insert pull down menu, select
Sheet The second sheet is added
Right-click the drawing area, and select

When prompted with the message for the CENTER POINT for the drawing view Pick
an appropriate location near the middle of inside drawing
Select View States
Check Explode components in view

to No Hidden Click OK
Click Repaint the Screen icon
Create a TABLE for drawing BOM
From Table pull down menu, select
Hit Enter on a blank line to finish the column definition
Now enter the row heights,

Merge the columns in the first row to create a title block for the table Select
From Table pull down menu, select
Merge Cells
Rows & Cols
Pick the first and last column entries in the first row of the table
Click OK
Double click the FIRST
(header) row cell
The Note Properties dialog box opens
Enter ROLLER LINK BOM
Click Text Style tab

Change the justification of the text as follows
Click OK
Create the column headings in the SECOND row Select,
Double click the FIRST cell of the second row
The Note Properties dialog box opens Enter the text INDEX
Click Text Style tab

Create the Repeat Region Repeat Regions automatically add text and expand downward as the model changes

to designate as a repeat region
From the TABLE pull down menu, select
Select -> Row
The row is highlighted
With the row still selected, click Add Repeat Region from the right mouse button shortcut menu The row is designated as a repeat region

dialog box opens
Select rpt… in the Report Symbol dialog box, then pick

Double click the second cell in the THIRD row … etc
Enter the following sequences from the REPORT SYMBOL dialog box into each

From the TABLE pull down menu, select
Repeat Region
In the TBL REGIONS menu, select
Update Tables
Note: Select Switch Syms if only report symbols are shown
The table contains duplicated entities, to combine these in the TBL REGIONS
Trang 20To modify the width of the column and row – if necessary,
Trang 21Pick one of cells inside the table Right-click to activate the right mouse button short cut menu, and select Height and Width
Change the values as needed
From TABLE pull down menu, select,
BOM Balloon –> Set Region -> With Qty
Click the region in the BOM Table
Trang 22Add notes in the title block,
Click or from Insert pull-down menu, select
Note -> … -> Make Note
Pick the location in the title block where you want to place the note
Enter NOTE: New Jersey Institute of Technology <Enter>
Enter NOTE: <Enter>
Continue to create the note as required
Done/Return to end the note creation
Note: Use left-mouse button to select the text, and move the note to proper location
