1 Rationale
According to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, tourism entails the movement of people to countries or places outsidetheir usual environment The purpose of their trip can be for business, leisure or personal reasons, other than to be employed by a residententity in the country or place visited
There are three basic forms of tourism: domestic tourism, inboundtourism, and outbound tourism:
- Domestic tourism refers to activities of a visitor within theircountry of residence and outside of their home
- Inbound tourism refers to the activities of a visitor from outside
of country of residence
- Outbound tourism refers to the activities of a resident visitoroutside of their country of residence
Tourism is vital for many countries, due to the income generated
by the consumption of goods and services by tourists, the taxes levied
on businesses in the tourism industry, and the opportunity foremployment and economic advancement by working in the industry Forthese reasons NGOs and government agencies may sometimes promote
a specific region as a tourist destination, and support the development of
a tourism industry in that area
In this assignment, I am going to carry out the topic of
“Tourism”.

Next, when the articles are chosen, the methods to translate areadopted to finish the assignment Some common stages involved in theprocess of translation have been suggested by several authors (Beaton,Bombardier, Guillemin, & Ferraz, 2002; United States Census Bureau,2001; Weeks, Swerissen, & Belfrage, 2007):
• determination of the relevance or context,
• forward-translation of the research instruments (i.e topic guides),
• backward-translation,
• examination of the translated meaning in both source and targetlanguages, and then finally
• revisiting the whole process to get similar interpretations

PART B: DEVELOPMENT
CHAPTER 1: DEFINITION
• Concepts of tourism
According to Wikipedia, Tourism is travel for pleasure or
business; also the theory and practice of touring, the business ofattracting, accommodating, and entertaining tourists, and the business
of operating tours Tourism may be international, or within the
Trang 14traveller's country The World Tourism Organization defines tourismmore generally, in terms which go "beyond the common perception oftourism as being limited to holiday activity only", as people
"traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment fornot more than one consecutive year for leisure and not less than 24hours, business and other purposes"
• Significance of tourism
The tourism industry has become an important source ofincome for many countries The Manila Declaration on WorldTourism of 1980 recognized its importance as "an activity essential tothe life of nations because of its direct effects on the social, cultural, educational, and economic sectors of national societies, and on theirinternational relations."
Tourism brings large amounts of income into a local economy
in the form of payment for goods and services needed by tourists Italso generates opportunities for employment in the service sector ofthe economy associated with tourism
On the flip-side, tourism can degrade people and sourrelationships between host and guest

massively reduced the number of
business trips, it has also noticeably
changed the gender ratio of travelers
Business travel has once again

AirPlus International after evaluating
300,000 flight bookings in January
and October 2020 The Lufthansa
subsidiary looked at business
travelers in Germany, France, Italy
and Great Britain Women travel less
Before the Corona pandemic,
about every fifth business traveler in
Germany was a woman According to
the study, it was 18.6% in January

slightly in previous years However,
due to the pandemic, it went down: in
October, only 12.1% of business
travelers were female So there is

complementary explanations for this
decline "Firstly, we observe that
certain occupational groups travel
more than others because their
presence on site is mandatory to carry
out their work locally," explains
AirPlus Marketing Manager Yặl
Klein These include, for example,
installers and field engineers These
positions are predominantly held by
men "Secondly, we see that in certain
industries people travel more than in
others," Klein continues Companies
in the energy sector, for example,
have more business trips than
software providers In addition, it is
also evident that women are more
likely to stay at home to maintain
family life and look after children
during the pandemic "Here we could

A comparison with other
European countries is interesting: The
decline in the percentage of female
travelers in Great Britain is even
more drastic than in Germany Before
the start of the pandemic, the
percentage of female travelers there
was 24.5%, but it plummeted to
13.6% in October The negative trend
is less pronounced in France, which
had almost exactly the same
percentage as the UK at the beginning
of the year Here, one in five business

country comparison is Italy - a
country with a traditionally low
proportion of women travelers

rather classical understanding of roles
is considered one of the reasons for
this
While the sharp decline in the
percentage of women among business
travelers in Italy comes as little
surprise to the experts, the drifting
apart of the trends in France and
Great Britain is remarkable

differences in the application of
short-time work schemes play a role
here as well as different approaches
to school and office closures,"

although the data show patterns of

that once the pandemic is over and
business travel has returned to
