1 Rationale
According to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, tourism entails the movement of people to countries or places outsidetheir usual environment The purpose of their trip can be for business, leisure or personal reasons, other than to be employed by a residententity in the country or place visited
There are three basic forms of tourism: domestic tourism, inboundtourism, and outbound tourism:
- Domestic tourism refers to activities of a visitor within theircountry of residence and outside of their home
- Inbound tourism refers to the activities of a visitor from outside
of country of residence
- Outbound tourism refers to the activities of a resident visitoroutside of their country of residence
Tourism is vital for many countries, due to the income generated
by the consumption of goods and services by tourists, the taxes levied
on businesses in the tourism industry, and the opportunity foremployment and economic advancement by working in the industry Forthese reasons NGOs and government agencies may sometimes promote
a specific region as a tourist destination, and support the development of
a tourism industry in that area
In this assignment, I am going to carry out the topic of
“Tourism”.

• determination of the relevance or context,
• forward-translation of the research instruments (i.e topic guides),

PART B: DEVELOPMENT
CHAPTER 1: DEFINITION
• Concepts of tourism
According to Wikipedia, Tourism is travel for pleasure or
business; also the theory and practice of touring, the business ofattracting, accommodating, and entertaining tourists, and the business
of operating tours Tourism may be international, or within the
Trang 14traveller's country The World Tourism Organization defines tourismmore generally, in terms which go "beyond the common perception oftourism as being limited to holiday activity only", as people
"traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment fornot more than one consecutive year for leisure and not less than 24hours, business and other purposes"
• Significance of tourism
The tourism industry has become an important source ofincome for many countries The Manila Declaration on WorldTourism of 1980 recognized its importance as "an activity essential tothe life of nations because of its direct effects on the social, cultural, educational, and economic sectors of national societies, and on theirinternational relations."
Tourism brings large amounts of income into a local economy
in the form of payment for goods and services needed by tourists Italso generates opportunities for employment in the service sector ofthe economy associated with tourism
On the flip-side, tourism can degrade people and sourrelationships between host and guest

To put that in context, in 2009,
on the back of the global financial
