Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED
A HELPING HAND
1 Class description:
26 boys, 13 girls All Vietnamese They are all students and they get on well together as a class
Most of them had actually studied some English at primary schools
2 Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
- Understand and use some new words relating to community service and volunteer work: community, benefit, volunteer, donate, non-profit
organization, make a difference
- Review the simple past and present perfect tense:
Structures: Tenses – the past simple: S+ V2/ V-ed + O
- Talk about volunteer work
- Aware of the value of the work they do for community
=> Educational factor: to make students be volunteers
3 Time: 45 minutes
4 Teaching aids: pictures, cassette, tape/ CD
5 Anticipated problems
- Problem: Ss may not sufficient vocabulary to speak
- Solution: Support them some new word related to the vocabulary
