REVISION: READING AND WRITING

I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to consolidate the sound of the

letter Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy and Zz and the coresponding words

- Learn and practise reading skills

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the song, TV

III Method:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work, group work

- Some techniques can be used: music chairs, correct teacher, act out…

IV Procedures:

1 Organization:

- Greeting and check student attendence.

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Guess

- Choose some phonics cards from Units 9 - 13

- T divides the class into 2 groups, A and B

- T pass one card in each group (from the first row to the last row)

- Say: Stop! The 2 students holding the cards must say the name of the item

- Keep passing the first card and pass the second card to each group

- Say: Stop! The 4 students holding the cards must say the name of the item

3 New lesson (30')

*Activity 1 Read and do the action (15')

- T write the words on the board

- T points to and elicit the sound of each letter

and the words

- T models

- Ss read the words in chorus, individual

- T read the words and do the action for Ss do

the same

- Ss read aloud individual

- T monitors and correct their mistake

*Activity 3: Which one is missing (15’)

- Put the card of the sound, letters and words

from unit 9 to unit 13 up on the table and give

Ss a minute to look at them and ask Ss close

their eyes and take away a card

- Ss open their eyes and name the card

- T write the letters on the board and asks Ss

to repeat

- T play the Cd Ss listen and sing along

- T asks Ss to takes out their own Vv – Zz

picture cards and place them on their desks

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss hold up

the corresponding pictures cards

2 Warm up and Review (5’)

Activity: How’s your memory?

- Write the words the students have learnt so far on the board Give the students 3 minutes to remember the words Erase them

- Divide the class into small teams

- Ask them write down the words in 3 minutes

- Then put teams’ lists up the board

- The team with the most correct words wins the activity

3 New lesson (30’)

Speaking test:

Part 1: Getting to know each other (1 point)

Part 2: Talking about a familiar object
