LESSON 4 : B 1,2

A.Objectives:

1 Aims:

- Know the words about the activities at recess

- Describe the recess in the pictures or in the school

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to talk about recess activities, using the present progressive tense

2 Practice skill:

- Further practice listening, reading and speaking skill

3 The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge:

- Know the words about the activities at recess

- Ask and answer about the activities which are happening in the pictures

+ Advanced knowledge: Describe the recess in their class

4 Basic language:

- Vocabulary: bell, recess, blind man’s bluff, catch, marbles, rope, excited, like, go into, indoors, to chat, to play catch / marbles / blind man’s bluff, to skip rope

- Structure: Present simple tense and present progressive tense

5 Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading, speaking and

do exercises using present progressive tense

B Teaching- aids:

Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster, projector, tablets

C Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work

- Some techniques can be used: Brainstorming, Presentation text , Picture Cue

Drill , Write it up.

Brainstorming

- Ask ss to think of the activities they do in their

recess

- Divide the class in to five teams and ask sts from 5

teams to write the words they know on the tablet

Step 1 : Presentation (12ms):

*Aim: -SS can understand and pronounce the new

words about recess activities

T introduce the content of the lesson and the

structure.

*Methods: Slap the board

* Procedure

1 Vocabulary : Elicit- mdoel- repeat – copy- check

2 Presentation text (B1 P56 )

- Set the scence : Look at the pictures The sts are at

recess Read the text to write down the recess

activities in the text

- Ask students to go to the board and write , one by

one

- Ask sts which activity is the most popular

- Give feedback (Key : talking)

3 Revision the present progressive tense

1 Picture Cue Drill

- Ask Ss to look at the pictures (B1.P56 )

- Ask sts to run through the pictures

- Teacher models :

S1 : What is the boy doing ?

S2 : He’s reading

- T- whole class => halves => pairs

2 Listening :

- Set the scence : Mai, Kien , Lan and Ba are at the

recess at school Look at B2 on page 57 and guess

and match name to an activity.

- Have ss predict in 1 minute

- Give feed back

- Ask sts to listen to the tape twice and check their

prediction

- Give feed back

*Aim: -SS can understand , ask and answer about

recess activities

*Methods: Survey

- Read and understand the differences between schools in Viet Nam and in the USA

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able read for details about recess

activities in an American high school

2 Practice skill:

- Drill reading comprehension skills

- Practice asking and answering about the most popular activities at recess

further pracice reading and writing skill

3 The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge:

- Remember the new words in the lesson

- Read the text fluently, understand and do the exercises

- Talk about some activities which don’t happen at recess in Viet Nam
