Advanced Mutiaxis provides enhanced 5 axis multisurface machining strategies You can work with the full interface that gives you access to all the available parameters and options Or, you can choose from a number of simplified interfaces that have been customized for specific applications and machining strategies.

These toolpaths work on surfaces Solid selection is available for most advanced multiaxis toolpath strategies, with the following exceptions: Toolpaths that require the selection of a defined edge (solid edge) and toolpaths that require the selection of only a single surface (solid face).

Drive surface Select the green (30) surface.

Projection curves– Select the red (12) letters (use window selection and enable color red in Color

Mask)

Cut tolerance = 0.01

Axial shift = 0.1mm

17 ADVANCED MULTIAXIS – PORT MACHINING TILTING THROUGH CURVE

Port Machining tilting through curve allows you to project the lead curve onto the drive surfaces,

keeping the tool aligned so that the tool axis passes through the selected point.

Select Port

Create a lollipop mill with a 0.5

diameter

Point Select the red color point.

Drive surfaces– Select the green surface.

Lead curve– Select the magenta curve

Clearance area – set to Plane in Z Height = 6

Distances – Rapid distance = 0.8;

Feed distance = 0.4; Air move safety = 0.4

Maximum angle step =3 degrees

Cut control set to Helical motion

Cutting area set to Full, avoid cuts at exact edges; and Cwise

Surface quality set to: Cut tolerance = 0.0005; Maximum stepover = 0.05

Switch to the Advanced interface and check the parameters.

Tool axis control

Change the Tool axis control to Tilted through curve

Tilt curve Select the blue color line

Curve tilt type set to From start to end

Set First entry set to Approach from rapid distance

Last exit set to Retract to clearance area

Enable Use Lead In/Out for First and Last entry

Small gaps and small moves Follow surfaces

Large gaps and Large moves set to Retract to feed distance and enable Use Lead In/Out

Select Default Lead In/Out button and change the parameters as shown.

18 ADVANCED MULTIAXIS IMPELLER BLADE SWARF FINISHING

Impeller blade swarf fnishing allows you to create a swarf toolpath to machine the blades with the

side of the tool.

Select Blade Surface Swarf

Toolpath Parameters

Create a 1/4” taper ball endmill

Impeller Blade Swarf Finishing

Area type set to Full, avoid cuts at exact edges;

Advanced – Enable Generate tool path only at front side

Floor surfaces – (Select surface color 50).select the bottom surface

Blade drive surfaces– (Select color 30 green)

Surface quality set to;

Cut tolerance = 0.005; Maximum stepover = 0.05

Sorting set to One way and Clockwise

Clearance area – set to Plane in Z Height = 6

Distances – Rapid distance = 0.8;

Feed distance = 0.4; Air move safety = 0.4

Side tilt definition set to Follow surface iso direction

Select as First the top curve

Make sure that Tool axis control is set to Be tilted relative to cutting direction

Tilt angle at side of cutting direction set to 75
