Documented Service Records - All Level Technicians For Intermediates, Professional Technicians And Advanced Students
Documented Service Records – All Level Technicians.
Power Faults - Display Faults - Memory Errors
The following information in this Samsung LED TV case history e-book
was written and compiled according to Damon Morrow's in-house service records (or case history) of Samsung LED TV failures This e-book documents a fair range of Samsung LED TV faults including various memory errors, display symptoms, and power failures This Samsung case history e-book is very easy to use, and it simply lists a fair range of popular problems and secretive fixes for Samsung LED TV's The information
contained in these pages are complete with the model number of the
Samsung LED TV, the board-number of the faulty circuit, and the location number of the defective component(s).
part-This Samsung e-book is a simple and affective reference tool, revealing components which have failed causing performance issues with Samsung LED TV's This e-book documents known symptoms on Samsung LED TV's such as Stand-by power only, dead-no power, no start-up cycle, WIFI error's,
no video, faulty audio, and much more
The components and IC's which have failed are listed in this e-book, and
Trang 6etc The test equipment used while compiling this Samsung LED TV case history information was a standard DVM meter (Fluke), Capacitor meter (uF/ESR) and a 60Mhz digital Oscilloscope (the very basics all technicians use) The scope was primarily used to troubleshoot IC chips and their I/O signaling, and drive circuits The scope was also used to test feedback-loops, start-pulses, duty-cycles on SMPS boards, as well as serial-clocks, gate- circuits, memory and bucking control on the main board However, in this e- book all of the troubleshooting has been done for you, with the causes and bad parts listed.
This Samsung LED TV e-book is for technicians of all levels, there are no complex diagrams or detailed graphics involved This e-book is not a case history of troubleshooting and circuit evaluation (as with my other books).
This e-book is a simple case history of Samsung LED TV parts failure.
Again, all of the troubleshooting work has been done for you and compiled
in a simple and easy to follow format This e-book is written text information correlating to shop records There are no pictorial graphics or
illustrative diagrams used in this e-book as it is not required i.e
'case-history'.
Note: Below is an example of how the Service-Case-History Records of each Samsung LED TV TV model are laid out in this e-book, and also shows the meaning of each category.

Trang 8Quick Emphasis on identifying the package style of all LCD/LED/Plasma/OLED IC chips and board connectors
TV IC Chip Package Style's & Board Connectors
Used in all LCD/LED/Plasma/OLED TV's
Brief reference information to help identify the package styling of a few
modern TV IC's and various board connectors.
The following 5 sections of information contained below pertains to all flat screen TV's (regardless of technology i.e LCD/Plasma/OLED) and its purpose is to accurately reference the physical package styling of a few contemporary IC chips and the Names of board connectors found inside all LCD, LED, Plasma, and OLED TV's.
In some isolated cases (depending on the IC manufacturer)the part number
of the IC doesn't always reveal the physical package styling of the chip This means when the chip arrives at the shop the physical body(package-style) of the IC chip is either shaped differently, or too big or small in which case the
IC won't fit properly on the circuit board and this is also the same scenario with board connectors as well
The aim of this brief section is to get familiar with TV IC's by identifying their correct package style, and identifying the names of different board connectors also.
Trang 9Section 1A of IC Package Styles:
Most popular IC packages inside LCD/LED/Plasma/OLED TV's

This concludes Quick Tips.
Trang 14Samsung NAND Flash
Hynix Problems and Soluions
The main fault symptoms Hynix & Samsung NAND lash issues cause on Samsung LED TV's are:
1) TV, boots-up and stuck on logo screen, then re-start's boot-up again 2) TV is on for a few minutes then turns itself on & of in a cyclic loop There are a host of other ROM issues a bad NAND chip causes as well, reseing the EEPROM will not work for these types of memory problems because this is a irmware upgrade error which is internal pariions damage Programming a new NAND chip will usually ix these issues but you must have a good NAND programmer like the one in FIG 1A and have a library of back-up code to lash into the target (new) NAND chip, this is assuming the new NAND chip does not have any bad-block's To get back-up
Trang 15code you must collect the main boards of these TV's and use the programmer to extract the NAND codes and save them, or ind a technician willing to sell you some codes for your own NAND back-up library, or if you have the proper skills you can use NAND data recovery methods to build your own NAND library But in some W/E (write-enable) cases this requires special tools such as Visual NAND Reconstructor, PC-3000 Flash, or Flash Extractor, but for NAND reading (DUMPING) these tools are really not required With some much older NAND's the chip itself can be installed without programming (self-programming) because the NAND will get re- programmed during the NAND repariioning stage (pariions boot-up), extracing the program data from the main CPU or micro-controller But this
is subject to the NAND being JTAG compaible for on-board programming,
as well as the programmer your using supporing JTAG NAND Anyhow, NAND 'self-programming' is not the case with the newer 2D-3D NAND's as they require programming and precise programming voltages as well.
However, there are a few hardware tricks with older JTAG NAND's which are extremely risky as it can erase the NAND chip completely One popular on- board hardware trick (for JTAG NAND) is to short two NAND pins (RB/RE) or (RE/CE) which acivate the output bufers and will put the micro-processor into MASK-ROM mode (M-ROM), this mean's the processor is forced to boot-up, and it does not see a NAND chip (because of the two shorted pins)
so it defaults into MASK-ROM mode RB=Read/Busy Output, RE=Read Enable, CE=Chip Enable Some micro-controllers or processors have a built-
in M-ROM for code storage, boot-loaders, or irmware Once the pins are shorted you can use a boot-loader and drivers to program the chip on board (JTAG method), or use stand-alone chip socket (Chip-Of method) but again this trick is risky and in some cases will erase the NAND completely (not good) and the TV will not engage a start-up proile.
Trang 16FIG 2AB
A lot of Hynix & Samsung NAND chips on Samsung LED Smart TV's fail because of internal physical problems with the NAND chip itself The main problem is arbitrary bus failure as it deviates out of data stream coninuously when the 'chip-select' funcion is disengaged (inacive) during I/O operaion, this roots from an ethernet control access conlict These NAND chips also have loaing gate issues from weak insulaion layers, as the charge in the insulaing layers grow more and more, it takes longer and longer to write the cell unil a write command is no longer possible, resuling in exising data that cannot be overwriten so what's let is
Trang 17preserved in the chip, (failed NAND chip) This is when a new NAND chip need's to be programmed and installed on the main board, but again you must have a library of back-up codes to write into the NAND.
To start programming NAND chips requires efort on your part to learn the techniques, there is no easy quick method here, the purpose of this secion
of the book is to give you the basics of what's needed to get started You will have to get familiar with certain key words such as:
Block Bad Block Main Area Spare Area Pariioning EEC/EDC MLC/SLC ICT/ISP JTAG eMMC Wear Leveling
Trang 18Figure 3A
Trang 19Figure 3B Once you learn NAND programming you will be able to ix all LED smart TV's with the two most popular NAND symptom's :
1) TV, boots-up and stuck on logo screen, then re-start's boot-up again 2) TV is on for a few minutes then suddenly turns itself on & of in a cyclic loop
You will have to learn the sotware for the RT809H Universal NAND
