Trang 7Taming The Nexus Of Forces
Every enterprise in order to survive and thrive in the digital economy needs to have a well-meshed emerging tech strategy They need to seamless integrate the new with the old, and in some cases completely overhaul legacy IT Emerging tech is the key spoke in the digital hub Let’s see how CIOs can approach a tech like IoT and navigate the complexities.
The emergence of new technolgies will require CIOs to be a partner in shaping and executing business strategies With the potential for disruption to existing business models, many organiza- tions will be susceptible to new competition from players in adjacent spaces, including existing partners and from start-ups The CIO will need to help seed ideas, collaborate in defining an overall emerging strategy and ensure that the organization has access to the necessary capabilities to execute this strategy.
The CIO has to ensure that funded new tech initiatives have a clear business case – in terms of operational efficiency and/or new revenue opportunities This may include considering how con- nected products can be monetized and how the value of emerging technologies can can be lever- aged.
More than having a long-term roadmap, experts say that it is more beneficial to take an agile approach, which facilitates rapid cycles of experimentation and evaluation Experts also say that many of the organizations they work with are creating cross-functional and multi-disciplinary groups focused on rapidly developing and evaluating prototype products The main purpose of CIOs would
be on business outcomes CIOs would be the crucial catalyst for organizations for capturing and to harness the potential of IoT They should ideally have the following priorities:
s s s s Clearly, emerging tech is the new normal in IT It brings people, machines, data, and organiza- tions together in a large ecosystem CIOs need to play a significant role in enabling emerging tech in their organization with advanced support, equipment, infrastructure and skill sets as it is reshaping enterprise IT, requiring CIOs to be more visionary, more collaborative and more business-minded.
!CCORDING TECHNOLOGY flow, while the CIO and engineering organizations need to define a roadmap for the organizations For instance, IoT is having a significant impact on the OTs and in the way IT operations is monitoring them CIOs and IT leaders need to adapt skill sets, processes, and tools to monitor IoT availability and performance in order to support business initiatives.
"OTH Data technologies These technologies are increasingly taking center stage, not as part of the IT strategy, but also the business strategy and business enabling IT, aver experts.

TECHNOLOGICAL DISRUPTION IS THE FUTURE: A BIRD’S EYE VIEW
ACROSS INDUSTRIES
Mohar V., Co-Founder and Business Evangelist, Techved Consulting
The phenomenal technological advancements
that have occurred in the past few years have
borne fruit to a plethora of industries in the
professional world It is not merely the more
technologically inclined industries like IT, finance
and defence that have benefited. The proliferation
of artificial intelligence (AI), Machine Learning(ML),
and the Internet of Things (IoT) among others have
disrupted industries such as healthcare, fashion,
agriculture, real estate, marketing, media, insurance,
transportation, education, entertainment and travel
and hospitality as well Let us understand which
technological advancements have contributed the
most to the collective
One of the most instrumental technologies in
industrial operations today, Artificial Intelligenceis
the ability of a computer or computer-enabled botic systems to process massive and deep amounts
ro-of data to produce outcomes similar to the thought processes of humans In other words, these technolo-gies learn, analyse, decide, and solve problems in a human-like manner The AI applications are simply endless, and the ascendance of computer science is unsurprising The global AI market was worth $7.35 billion in 2018, where the largest portion of revenue was stirred from enterprise applications The market is expected to catapult to $89.84 billion by 2025
AI is being used for research and development, predictive analytics, real-time operations manage-ment, risk management, and content distribution among various other applications Tactical Research has identified a total of 191 AI use cases; about
Trang 960% of the top ten are related to big data while the
remaining 40% are related to image or object
recog-nition
AI has also enabled other technological
revolu-tions in consumer service in the form of chatbots The
AI-enabled software performs automated interactions
with humans in terms of addressing queries and other
requests on digital platforms like apps and websites
These bots are now a common element in almost
every product or service industry such as travel, food,
finance, news media and healthcare. While offering
on-demand solutions based on personalization,they
have been developed to eradicate any possibilities of
negative responses with certain elements of humour
as well
It has been established that
AI processes massive and deep
amounts of data, but where does
the data come from? The Internet of
Things (IoT) is known as the treasure
trove of data as it comprises all
web-enabled devices that collect, process,
send, and act on data without the
re-quirement of human interaction The
data is acquired from embedded
sen-sors, processors and communication
hardware In laymen terms, it takes
all devices in the world and connects
it to the internet The applications
of IoT have been used in versatile
means including smart factory applications and smart
warehousing, predictive and remote maintenance,
connected logistics, goods and transportation
moni-toring, smart city applications, manufacturing
equip-ment monitoring, industrial heating and ventilation,
safety and health among various use cases
According to the Industry ARC research, the
indus-trial IoT market is estimated to reach $123.89 billion
by 2021 The stupendous growth is due to its merits
in improving operational efficiency, productivity, and
asset utilization while reducing downtime
Another technological advancement that is
expected to become a mainstay in the digital
mar-keting industry in particular is Conversational UI It
represents a paradigm shift in the sense that it offers
the privilege of interacting with computers in
human-like conversational patterns through user interface
of apps or websites Colossal tech companies like
Amazon (Alexa), Apple (Siri) and Google’s Personal
Assistant are at the forefront of voice assistance
today They are increasingly being used for searching
information on the internet due to the technological
abilities to recognize human speech Though they are currently being implemented in the digital market-ing, they will also be used in the product and service providing industries such as food and airline going forward
Other advancements such as Augmented/Virtual/Mixed Reality and multidimensional experiencetech-nologies are also making a foray into every sector imaginable The former are immersive experiences that transit from a real world to variations in the vir-tual world The stimulated environments are essen-tially conjured out of thin air through use of apps and computers where users are either within the virtual worlds, or they are augmented in the real world It
is estimated that the total revenue for AR/VR
tech-nology will increase from $6.1 billion in 2016 to $209 billion by
2022 It is well known that AR/VR/MR is stupendously being implemented in the gaming industry, but other sectors like video entertainment, education, real estate, and retail are also increasingly using these tech-nologies in unique ways They essentiallyenhance the element
of engagement among ers; a mandatory requirement in the modern marketplace

In conclusion
The development of these technologies may have been expected, but the manner in which they have disrupted the number of industries in different ways is unprecedented These technologies will only develop further, the prospect of which is immensely exciting
AI has also enabled other technological revolutions

Trang 10AI AND ML CREATES MULTIFOLD EFFICIENCY BY OPTIMIZING
FACILITIES IN REAL-TIME
Prabhu Ramachandran, Founder and CEO, Facilio Inc
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
are now more than just buzzwords AI and
ML are increasingly becoming integrated
with our everyday services, which we
may not realize With connected intelligence made
possible by the Internet-of-Things (IoT), data-based
decision making and control becomes a cakewalk
While individuals get the windfall benefits of AI and
ML by means of better playlist suggestions, local
offers, location and context-relevant content access
On the other hand, CREs benefit from a centralized
view and control of their building operations and
sustainabilitydata that helps them make informed
decisions to provide exceptional experiences
This ‘actionable intelligence’ made possible by the convergence of data, AI, and ML have also started to revolutionize our living spaces, with buildings and facilities management space accelerating on the highway of automation Automation in buildings is not a recent phenomenon For years, every wave of technological advancement has been integrated into our buildings space to achieve better energy sav-ings, increase the efficiency of personnel, and have a centralized control room for large facilities
The aim has always been in finding ways to systematically control buildings and make them as
CORENER
Trang 11efficient and sustainable as possible An inefficient
building incurs as much as 30%more energy costs
and 15% more on maintenance expenses, which
would lead to a staggering reduction on any
com-pany’s bottom line
The consumer awareness and demand for ‘smart
offices’ and living spaces have also been driving the
adoption of AI and ML in facilities management
While a vast majority of today’s millennial workforce
want to be in smart offices in the next 5 years,
build-ings are reeling in inefficiencies, building a strong
case for technology-led facilities management A
modern and holistic facilities optimization solution
not only takes care of end-to-end building operations
and sustainability but also ensure the inhabitant’s
comfort. This enables quicker returns on investment
for commercial real-estate owners as well as reduce
the impact on the environment at the same time
What is measured, is controlled
Proactive real-time maintenance of buildings
requires continuous tracking and maintenance of
workforce Existing semi-smart facilities in most
buildings are limited in analytical capabilities, and
are simply silos of constant data streams that do
not translate to actionable intelligence By unifying
data across multi-vendor building systems onto one
centralised platform, and effectively implementing AI
and ML algorithms, facility managers can move from
being reactive managers to proactive contributors
to both the CRE’s bottom line by enabling a smarter
workforce, as well as improving the sustainability
performance of the environment we live in
It is not a zero sum game
In case of old buildings, years of inefficient
han-dling would have not only resulted in a cumulatively
huge inefficiency, but would also have created a
stub-born inertia in decision-making Owners of old
build-ings are often reluctant to invest in new age tech,
quoting the old argument that throwing good money
after bad money is unwise This may be
counter-intu-itive, but the truth is that old buildings are not on an
irreversible one-way street towards total decline
Surprisingly, retrofitting of old buildings with
pro-prietary hardware and software integration unlocks
multiple benefits for commercial real estate owners
and facilities managers including huge energy
sav-ings and sustainability improvements
Retrofitment can now be done with minimal
investment without full-fledged physical retrofits,
thanks to new-age digital retro fitment capabilities
unleashed by the power of software While rising operating costs and asset depreciation are usually the reasons building owners and managers seek retro fitments, many proactively move to modernize their facilities proactively Only in the last decade, retrofitments have moved on from being localized automation-centric to evolve into integrated build-ing management systems and facilities management solutions
The best is yet to come
By adopting technologies such as IoT (Internet
of Things), AI, ML and Cloud, digital retrofitments instantly does away with the need for costly hardware inclusions Instead of replacing all current machinery, one can apply specialist technologies along with existing in-site equipment to collect data for aiding decision making Simply put, digital retrofitments are
to the building industry, what Industry 4.0
(connect-ed manufacturing) is for the manufacturing sector The momentum is going strong Across the globe,
in 2017 alone, $6.3 billion was invested in intelligent building systems, which is expected to touch $22 bil-lion in 2026 The overall global investment in facilities services has already exceeded $1 trillion, which would give an insight into the enormity of our collective energy expenditure from buildings Any incremental improvement by implementing AI and ML in facilities management for increasing efficiency and sustain-ability initiatives would bring huge benefits The best
is yet to come
By unifying data across vendor building systems onto one centralised platform, and effectively implementing AI and ML algorithms, facility managers can move from being reactive managers to proactive contributors to both the CRE’s bottom line by enabling a smarter workforce,
multi-as well multi-as improving the sustainability performance of the environment we live in.
Trang 12SEEKING A QUICK AND EFFICIENT AI-DRIVEN ENTERPRISE SOLUTION?
A.C.T NOW!
Sudeshna Datta, Co-Founder& Executive V P, Absolutdata
For businesses today, the disruptive and
transformative capabilities of artificial
intelligence (AI) are too great to overlook
The opportunity at hand to transform
traditional organizations into dynamic, adaptive, and
technology-driven enterprises has business leaders
increasingly exploring ways to adapt AI and keep
up with competing businesses Organizations that are unable to do so risk being left behind by newer businesses that are built on a digital foundation, unlike existing companies that have to undergo a digital transformation
Many companies even struggle to achieve the short-term results from their AI deployments simply
CORENER
Trang 13due to their approach to utilizing the technology
This leads businesses to assume that integrating AI
with their processes is a lengthy and complicated
process But in reality, it isn’t In fact, one can indeed
see instant results with AI deployments, and not just
in one or two departments, but across the enterprise
This brings us to the question – How?
Besides installing AI tools and implementing the
necessary and getting the right talent to operate and
maintain these tools, businesses need to focus on
three critical elements to ensure quick and
large-scale results These three elements, namely analytical
framework, context, and technology together form
the A.C.T strategy which ensures that enterprises not
only integrate AI successfully with their processes but
also leverage it to derive business value immediately
following its deployment
Let us look closely at the elements of the A.C.T
strategy to see how they can help businesses achieve
this
Analytical framework: For AI to deliver its full
range of problem-solving capabilities, it needs an
efficient analytical framework to operate on More
importantly, an analytical framework is needed since
businesses cannot simply put the AI on auto-pilot
mode and trust it to produce real insights without
understanding the business A framework, therefore,
guides the process of building a custom AI solution
which can be programmed to solve specific business
problems Furthermore, the framework can map out
how and from where the data will be gathered for
the AI to apply its predictive models and accurately
forecast, say, for instance, the performance during a
marketing campaign or when a particular customer
will make his/her a purchase
Context: The second factor driving the success of
AI implementation in enterprises is business context,
which enables an AI solution to perform in a manner
and deliver results that help achieve larger business
goals Contrary to popular belief, AI is self-learning
but not all-knowing and can only learn based on the
inputs provided to it by humans or other connected
systems For instance, AI will need all the customer
budget information which the sales and
market-ing department has in order for it to make the right
decisions on when to issue what offers, and which
products customers find attractive at what price
points AI might continue recommending a past
product simply because it has achieved more sales in
the past or because customers have responded well
to it However, the AI does not understand that new
products typically generate more customer
excite-ment than established products without the relevant context, which humans need to provide when build-ing the solution
Technology: Technology is the third and most
crucial element of a successful AI deployment egy, as it helps to put the various pieces together and ensure successful implementation of automated systems and processes Comprehensive AI tools and solutions that can handle end-to-end enterprise processes are always a better option for businesses
strat-as compared solutions that are dedicated to very specific business functions Moreover, such solutions are not only more efficient in the long-term, but also eliminate the need for building a huge team to develop and deploy different solutions whenever the need arises Furthermore, enterprise AI solutions and platforms are also easily scalable, allowing manag-ers and leaders to tackle specific business problems across theenterprise and derive maximum value out
of it for the entire organization
When implemented with an A.C.T strategy, AI’s real-world applications can deliver superior outcomes across all processes and departments, and create
a seamless link between them Businesses that are looking to adopt AI, then, can transform their opera-tions and augment their efficiency by taking a multi-dimensional approach to enterprise automation with the A.C.T strategy Consequently, this can be the key
to gaining a lasting competitive edge in their tive sectors and markets
respec-Organizations that don’t adopt
to digital technology are left behind by newer businesses that are built on a digital foundation Many companies even struggle
to achieve the short-term results from their AI deployments simply due to their approach
to utilizing the technology This leads businesses to assume that integrating AI with their processes is a lengthy and complicated process.
Trang 14IMPACT OF AI ON ASSESSING INDIVIDUAL’S
CREDITWORTHINESS
Ranjit Punja is the CEO and Co-Founder of CreditMantri
CORENER
Trang 15Checking one’s creditworthiness is a very
intricate subject, as all their previous financial
behaviour is comprehensively perused All
the weighted parameters are assessed and
combined together to form one’s Credit Score, which
is the tool used by the banks/lenders to find out
people’s creditworthiness
But what about the people who are new to credit?
Since they don’t have any financial history, their credit
score can’t be calculated Hence, majority of the
times, they are unable to get any credit For people
who have already availed some line of credit in the
past, it is relatively easier to gauge their Credit Score
as all the information required for the same is
avail-able with the Credit Bureaus This follows a certain
paradigm that dictates that your past will affect your future So, if you have been a delinquent borrower
in the past, it’s going to reflect in your future credit score analysis as well
But it doesn’t take into account those people who have become more responsible now but have noth-ing to show for it So how can these people who are deemed undeserved and who are new to credit get the best credit available for them?
How AI helps in assessing people’s Creditworthiness
Artificial Intelligence goes beyond the traditional data used to determine people’s creditworthiness All the data the people share is pooled together and ma-chine learning is used to analyse the data to correlate
it with the criteria provided by the lenders
This data includes both the traditional data; i.e past payment records, credit age, utilization ratio; and alternate data; i.e digital footprint, employment status, etc Hence, all the past and current behaviour
of people is comprehensively analysed and used together to gauge their creditworthiness So, for people who have only recently showed a responsible behaviour or who are new to credit, Artificial Intel-ligence is a great means to get them on track with their financial aspirations
What it means for lenders
So far, we have discussed about people’s iour change for the better, but it can very well be the other way around People who were responsible before could likely show just the opposite behaviour
behav-in the future due to certabehav-in circumstances Similar
to how Artificial Intelligence helped in bringing the creditworthy people to light, it can also help deter-mine the potential delinquents
This is a great asset for lenders as they are able to better distinguish the creditworthy and potential de-linquents, and can set the lending terms accordingly for each group
AI’s effect on overall lending industry
With a better know-how of the potential risk that comes with each borrower, more and more lenders are adopting Artificial Intelligence to determine the creditworthiness of people Even though it’s still at
a nascent stage, it has still managed to change the dynamic of lending industry with better understand-ing of the creditworthiness of people, and is expected
to bring about a revolution in this industry in the near future
Trang 16ADVANTAGE OF AI IN EFFICIENT AND PERSONALIZED LEARNING
Ashok Pandey ashokpa@cybermedia.co.in
Maybe slowly, but surely, Artificial
Intelligence (AI) is going to make a huge
impact on our educational system The
advantage of AI on education could be
many that will help teachers and student both
AI would help us to make an efficient plus
person-alized learning approach, optimized for the needs of
each learner We spoke to Rajshekhar Ratrey, VP and
Educational Content at Toppr, to understand the deep
impact of AI on education:
How AI would benefit the educational system?
Each invention in education was aimed to improve
its quality and reach Today, Artificial Intelligence
will play that part E-learning companies harness the power of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Natural Language Processing Using this advanced technol-ogy, they are not only able to bring education to the fingertips of every child, but also personalise every child’s learning experience The personalisation of education plays a key role in a diverse country like In-dia because it solves a problem that cannot be solved
CORENER
Trang 17dent should understand Due to this, slow learners lag
behind and keep trying to catch up with the teacher’s
pace They either end up rote learning concepts that
they have missed or lose the motivation to study Fast
learners, on the other hand, get bored with the slow
pace of learning and lose interest
AI can solve this problem by making learning
personalised for every child AI can ensure that each
child has a unique learning experience based on his/
her aptitude, grasping skills, and basic knowledge for
each subject
How can AI adoption change education?
Indian students face some of the most
competi-tive scenarios in the world – especially when it comes
to engineering and medical entrance exams
Howev-er, most schools don’t provide any additional support
to students when it comes to cracking these exams
Moreover, many schools have a sub-par infrastructure
and teachers
These factors, have made students look beyond
their school classrooms and towards expensive but
unsatisfactory coaching classes These classes talk
about helping students learn better, but they come
with the same problems of a traditional classroom set
up – students cannot receive any individual attention
In spite of this, coaching classes have become lar because students did not have any other options, until the last couple of years
popu-Advantages of AI on manufacturing industry
On the other hand, smartphones and tablets have been known as entertainment and connectivity de-vices in the Indian household This will change when parents and students realise that eLearning apps provide a much more personalised learning experi-ence that bolsters their strengths while constantly improving their weaknesses
One of the major Advantage of AI is, AI-powered eLearning apps will not replace teachers in general, but they will definitely become the first choice of an after-school learning source for most students
How AI offer efficient and personalized learning?
Using advanced technology, eLearning apps like Toppr can create adaptive learning paths The apps study the behaviour of students and gauge their aptitude for each subject Using this analysis, apps can ensure that each child learns at a pace that he/she is comfortable with They first strengthen the basic concepts and then ease them into the complex ones
Using AI, the education industry can ensure that every child learns in a way that’s best for them, creat-ing a better learning experience for each of them
How AI can be used to clear doubts?
A big problem that students face when they are a part of a classroom is that teachers do not have the time to solve every single doubt asked by every child Students are often confused about basic concepts and this affects their understanding of complex top-ics
Elearning apps like Toppr believe that student doubts should be solved instantly, round the clock This is why, using an app, students can solve their doubts on chat All they have to do is upload a picture
of their doubt on the chat app
Using Artificial Intelligence and natural language processing, a bot scans through the database and suggests a solution based on a similar doubt asked
in the past If the bot cannot find an answer, or if the student needs any further explanation, he/she can chat with an expert at the click of a button Today, over 20% of all doubts are solved by the bot, and most doubts are solved within a minute
Trang 18HOW CAN AI ADOPTION CHANGE THE PERCEPTION OF EDUCATION?
Ashok Pandey ashokpa@cybermedia.co.in
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the
buzzwords and many industries including
education, manufacturing and healthcare
are adopting it for better efficiency and
lower error The new developments in AI is leading us
towards the new future
AI has already been applied to education to
develop skills, as AI educational solutions continue to
mature, the hope is that AI adoption can change the
perception of education We discussed AI adoption in
the Educational system to understand its impact with
Sanjeev Kumar, Co-Founder and CTO at Gradeup
How education/exam preparation is greatly
benefited from AI?
From the moment a user signs up on Gradeup
platform, we present content which has been curated
to his/her needs This is made possible by our
intel-ligent machines which recognise the patterns of app
usage and preferences of the user A great example
would be the posts shown in the feed
If the user has previously shown great interest in
reading articles, we’d show them more articles, if we
think the user loves solving the quizzes, we push in
more quizzes in his/her feed Everything that is shown
on the app has been customised for the user and all
of this is only possible with the help of AI
How AI adoption can change education in India?
No two students are the same Some might grasp
things at great speed while some may need more
time to understand what is being taught The way
courses are taught in schools and colleges might suit
some students, but for certain, there are a lot of
stu-dents who’d think they want the content to be taught
at a different speed or may be in a different way
Advantage of AI in personalized learning
However, there’s only so much a teacher can do
and it’s practically impossible to make everyone
happy This is where AI comes in! AI can recognize the
speed at which a student likes to learn, the time of the day he/she might like to study, the type of con-tent the student enjoys and the list goes on
How AI offers efficient competitive exams/ clear doubts/ test preparation platform for students?
Imagine this You are sitting in a class The teacher has gone into great detail in explaining a topic dreaded by students You miss a detail You spend the rest of the class connecting dots and not under-standing anything This has happened to all of us, and many times! But with Gradeup, this does not have to

Trang 20HOW AI AND MACHINE LEARNING HELPS IN UP SKILLING TO BETTER
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Diwakar Chittora, CEO & Founder, Intellipaat
There are at least two clear trends that show
a demand-supply mismatch in tech jobs
in cutting-edge IT fields such as Artificial
Intelligence and Machine Learning One is via
industry predictions that estimate growth in the AI market from USD 21.46 billion to USD 190.61 billion between 2018 and 2025 Year on year growth is projected to be an impressive 36.62% during the same
CORENER
Trang 21period The second trend is more subtle Big Indian IT
firms in the US are reportedly ‘hoarding’ employees
in these 2 fields as they foresee a shortage in skilled
experts They also fear a corresponding rise in the
cost of hiring employees for tech contracts they have
bagged for the future
How are AI & Machine Learning being used in
Industry?
Unlike the exaggerated robots of the 2001 Steven
Spielberg movie of the same name, Artificial
Intelli-gence (AI) in reality is tamer AI is understood to mean
ways of making computers, computer-controlled
robots or program think
intelli-gently mimicking the manner in
which humans think
intelligent-ly A computer program with
AI can use can solve generic
problems it is programmed to
instead of just specific ones
They can accommodate new
modifications to input without
breaking structure Traditional
programmers would have to
sort, sift and debug thousands
of lines of code to make
modi-fications
AI finds applications in strategy games such as
chess or poker where advance moves are determined
by heuristic logic, natural language processing, virtual
assistant technology, image and speech recognition
and automated robotics General AI systems which
can solve any given problem are rare Insurance and
banking organizations regularly use AI to monitor
fraud Marketers use AI every time you shop online
to gather your browsing habits and predict what you
are most likely to buy They will then advertise those
products through pop-ups and logos Self-driving
cars, auto-pilot modes and smart homes using
sen-sors all rely on AI and affect daily lives of consumers
There is also a difference between AI and Machine
Learning (ML) although a number of articles on the
web club them together or use them
interchange-ably “ML is the study of computer algorithms that
improve automatically through experience”
accord-ing to Tom Mitchell of Carnegie Mellon University
It is simply one of the ways we use to achieve AI or
something closer
How can you acquire AI & ML skills?
By some estimates, AI will create nearly 2.3 million
jobs by next year It might also make 1.7 million jobs
obsolete but those would need to be replaced by 0.5 million new jobs Nearly all forms of enterprise software, factory automation, transport and other industries are increasingly using AI-based interfaces
in their daily operation In fact, by 2030, AI may end
up offering USD 15.7 trillion to the global economy.Mathematical and programming skills are central
to acquiring competency in this field However, for seasoned tech professionals, it is also quite important
to develop excellent communication skills An derstanding of how business works and the common processes used in day-to-day operations will help you better utilize your core competencies to improve
Typically, knowledge and expertise in Bayesian networks, neural networks, cognitive sci-ence theory, engineering, physics, robotics, under-graduate algebra, calculus, statistics and probability are very essential to hone your talents in ML
Graduates in Computer Science need only ment their knowledge of math and computing with a specialized course in AI & ML
supple-India best placed to exploit AI opportunities
Analysis of professional networking site Linkedin.com has shown that India is the third best-placed economy after the US and China to crack AI jobs and careers with high penetration of AI awareness AI is a big part of investments into start-ups at an estimated
by private players alone in 2016
Among the more exciting opportunities one can expect in 2019 is the rising application of AI in health-care to detect and diagnose health issues in individu-als Smart infrastructure to help balance rapid growth
in urban centers in India is also an option being explored by the government B Tech programs now mandatorily have AI, IoT, Machine Learning and some other essential components of emerging technolo-gies However, constant changes in this dynamic field have made it mandatory for professionals to keep up skilling via a noted institution to remain relevant and job-worthy
Among the more exciting opportunities one can expect in 2019 is the rising application of AI
in healthcare and smart infrastructure in urban planning and development.
Trang 22IT and business leaders are often confused about
what artificial intelligence (AI) can do for their
organizations and are challenged by several AI
misconceptions Gartner, Inc said IT and business
leaders developing AI projects must separate reality
from myths to devise their future strategies
“With AI technology making its way into the
orga-nization, it is crucial that business and IT leaders fully
understand how AI can create value for their business and where its limitations lie,” said Alexander Linden, research vice president at Gartner “AI technologies can only deliver value if they are part of the organiza-tion’s strategy and used in the right way.”
Gartner has identified five common myths and misconceptions about AI
CORENER
Trang 23Myth No.1: AI works in the same way the human
brain does
AI is a computer engineering discipline In its current
state, it consists of software tools aimed at solving
prob-lems While some forms of AI might give the impression
of being clever, it would be unrealistic to think that
cur-rent AI is similar or equivalent to human intelligence
“Some forms of machine learning (ML) – a
catego-ry of AI – may have been inspired by the human brain,
but they are not equivalent,” Mr Linden said “Image
recognition technology, for example, is more accurate
than most humans, but is of no use when it comes to
solving a math problem The rule with AI today is that
it solves one task exceedingly well, but if the
condi-tions of the task change only a bit, it fails.”
Myth No 2: Intelligent Machines learn on their own
Human intervention is required to develop an
AI-based machine or system The involvement may come
from experienced human data scientists who are
ex-ecuting tasks such as framing the problem, preparing
the data, determining appropriate datasets,
remov-ing potential bias in the trainremov-ing data (see myth No
3) and – most importantly- continually updating the
software to enable the integration of new knowledge and data into the next learning cycle
Myth No 3: AI can be free of bias
Every AI technology is based on data, rules and other kinds of input from human experts Similar
to humans, AI is also intrinsically biased in one way
or the other “Today, there is no way to completely banish bias, however, we have to try to reduce it to a minimum,” Mr Linden said “In addition to technologi-cal solutions, such as diverse datasets, it is also crucial
to ensure diversity in the teams working with the AI, and have team members review each other’s work This simple process can significantly reduce selection and confirmation bias.”
Myth No 4: AI will only replace repetitive jobs that don’t require advanced degrees
AI enables businesses to make more accurate decisions via predictions, classifications and cluster-ing These abilities have allowed AI-based solutions to replace mundane tasks, but also augment remaining complex tasks
An example is the use of imaging AI in healthcare
A chest X-ray application based on AI can detect diseases faster than radiologists In the financial and insurance industry, roboadvisors are being used for wealth management or fraud detection Those capa-bilities don’t eliminate human involvement in those tasks but will rather have humans deal with unusual cases With the advancement of AI in the workplace, business and IT leaders should adjust job profiles and capacity planning as well as offer retraining options for existing staff
Myth No 5: Not every business needs an AI strategy
Every organization should consider the potential impact of AI on its strategy and investigate how this technology can be applied to the organization’s busi-ness problems In many ways, avoiding AI exploitation
is the same as giving up the next phase of tion, which ultimately could place organizations at a competitive disadvantage
automa-“Even if the current strategy is ‘no AI’, this should
be a conscious decision based on research and sideration And – as every other strategy- it should be periodically revisited and changed according to the organization’s needs AI might be needed sooner than expected,” Linden concluded

Data Localization has been the buzz word in 2018
across sectors Where do you see the trends moving
in 2019?
India is home to the second largest growing
population of internet users in the world Mobile data consumption monthly has increased 50 times more over the last 5 years in India With increasing number
of connected devices, the huge amount of data needs
to be stored closer to the point where it is generated, in 2019 we will see edge data centers coming into play largely, especial-
ly in the telecom data centers The BFSI sector will continue to store data inside the country and players like Amazon, Master Card and Alibaba have already opened up their data centers in India In
2019, we will see more and more nies setting up their data centers in India.Post the data localization regulations and with the huge investments planned for both on premise, co-location and cloud facilities, the industry will be well equipped to manage the additional stor-age and compute requirements going forward In 2019, we will see growth of data center as a service which will provide flexible options for the SMEs and start-ups given their capex and operational expenditure limitations Due to data localization, a wide array of opportunities have opened up for both the data center solution providers along with security solutions market to secure the customer centric data in sectors like BFSI, e- gover-nance and digital businesses

TALK
Trang 25tivity issues such as high power costs and the need
to get various permits As a consequence, the volume
increase in data will require data centers to become
more agile and efficient to cater to this exponential
growth Therefore, the biggest challenge for
enter-prises would be the integration and management of
hybrid cloud solutions that can help them overcome
this challenge
Please highlight the impact of open banking,
e-governance initiatives launched last year, on the
data centers.
In this digital era where customers need instant
gratification, every industry is striving hard to create
better customer experiences and the BFSI sector is no
exception The new age customer understands that
their time is pressing and the long-winding queues
and limited customer
service options are giving
way to mobile apps,
peer-to-peer transfer service,
digital wallets, online
bank-ing and open bankbank-ing Add
to this, the government’s
Digital India mission, cut
throat competition from
the new- age fintech
play-ers are pushing BFSI sector
companies to build secure,
scalable and
operation-ally efficient data center
architectures to be able
to respond quickly and
securely to their customer demands This is leading
to an explosion of internet enabled consumption of
services causing silos of data that needs to be secured
in data centers
However, it is not an easy task for the CIO’s in the
banking sector Banking, Finance, Insurance are tough
markets that call for speed, reliability and robust
security of data The banking sector is very vulnerable
to data theft and consumer confidence is challenged
on a continual basis Although the security in the BFSI
sector is pretty much cut-out and strict two-factor
authentication is followed to check for any
vulner-abilities At Raritan, we have KVM solutions that can
protect information by managing access and data
transfers based on a computer’s security classification
level
Coupled with this, e-governance services
launched last year like Aadhaar, DigiLocker, Digi
Dhan, and apps like Umang have further contributed
in data surge Besides, both national and various state governments have come forward and launched their unique schemes under NIC All these e-gov-ernance or citizens initiatives are opening an array
of opportunities for the Indian data center market
to proliferate The huge volumes of data generated through this data driven governance, will be ac-cessed, transferred and analysed within the govern-ment departments from time to time
Initiatives like mobile and open banking, ernance have opened up new opportunities for the Indian data center market to provide an IT infrastruc-ture model that can deliver reliable, innovative and cost-effective solutions to the business in time
e-gov-What will be the key growth drivers of data centers across industries in 2019?
The growth of the digital economy, internet enabled data consump-tion, low tariffs on mobile data and voice calls, will lead to a data propelled future Businesses thrive
on digital and this will continue in 2019 as well
In the current scenario, enterprises require data centers to be more agile, scalable and flexible According to Gartner, sectors like Telecom, IT, BFSI, E-commerce and Government have fuelled the rise of intelligent data centers and going forward we see these sectors be-ing a major contributor in the growth story of data centers in India
Monthly consumption of mobile data has increased
50 times over the last 5 years The cost of data and voice calls in India is now possibly the lowest
in the world as announced during the recent Interim budget In this scenario, how do you see the telecom IT infrastructure coping up with this challenge?
The government is incentivizing mobile data consumption and have taken these steps as India is home to the second largest smartphone user base
in the world IoT has further enabled connectivity of devices A lot of data is being generated through IoTand there is a strong need to have edge data cen-ters The telecom infrastructure has to gear up in the
Banking, Finance, Insurance are tough markets that call for speed, reliability and robust security of data The banking sector is very vulnerable to data theft and consumer confidence
is challenged on a continual basis
Although the security in the BFSI sector
is pretty much cut-out and strict factor authentication is followed to check for any vulnerabilities
Trang 26context of edge computing in India It is time that the
telecom sector moves from centralized data centers
to mini/micro data centers that will be set up closer
to the end consumer However, this will create big
challenges with respect to security Maintaining the
‘security’ of the heavy day to day financial
transac-tions that take place on these networks, is of
para-mount importance for the telecos We can see that
the telecom operators are already facing issues with a
huge load of traffic volumes at their network and this
will only increase in the future To be able to route
traffic up and down will become more challenging for
them The processing and security of these financial
transactions will be the most important area where
the telecom infrastructure needs to strengthen itself
Security should be taken care of at every level from
data management, bandwidth or network security,
web security, ensuring firewalls etc
In the future, we will have
cel-lular towers which will become
one of the edge data centers The
telcos will then be able to manage
and process data at that cell tower
itself and re-route from that point
itself So each cell site already has
its own telecom equipment, UPS
and battery monitoring systems
At the moment, we are doing pilot
projects with telcos and help them
remotely manage and improve the
uptime of each cell site
Government of India has
announced setting up a hub for
AI under the Interim budget What
new opportunities will it bring for the data center
market in India?
Artificial Intelligence and Deep Mind AI has been
greatly successful globally and with the government
putting a lot of thrust in setting up AI hub, data
cen-ters in India as well can hugely benefit from it Today,
data centers are bigger, more complex and connected
to the cloud and artificial intelligence can open a host
of opportunities for data centers like prevention from
overheating and saving power simultaneously With
AI, a lot of processes in the data center can be made
more cost-effective, less time consuming and secured
as human errors can be detrimental to security
hy-giene in a data center
Besides, AI can offer predictive analysis that
help data centers to distribute workloads across the
servers which in turn leads to data center managers
keeping their focus on other processes With AI, data center loads can be made more predictable and easily manageable The load balancing tools with built-in AI capabilities are able to learn from past data and run load distribution more efficiently
The biggest opportunity with AI for data centers is its ability to better track server performance, disk uti-lization, and network congestions Optimizing server storage systems, finding possible fault points in the system, improve processing times and reducing risk factors will become faster These will in turn facilitate maximum possible server optimization
Unplanned downtime is a huge loss of money and credibility to a data center In times of such crisis, data center operators need to act on real time basis and prioritize troubleshooting A lot of quick decision making and promptness should be applied during such instances Therefore, by deploying AI based
deep learning (DL) applications, data center operators can plan well
in advance
The Incorporating machine learning, AI can take over the mundane job of monitoring huge amounts of data and make IT pro-fessionals more efficient in terms of the quality of tasks they handle.Along with monitoring of data,
it is also necessary to be able to store vast amounts of data securely
AI holds the potential to make more intelligent decisions on – storage optimization or tiering
What is the roadmap for Raritan in 2019?
We are working closely with different industries to see if our solutions or product categories can be used outside of a data center For instance we have taken our first product category KVM, (Keyboard Video Mouse) which helps in managing servers remotely in data centers, outside the data centers We are apply-ing its benefits in the semiconductor industry and will
do it with other industrial applications soon
Similarly, we are assisting the telecom operators to convert cellular towers into edge data centers People are now using data center of different sizes and for different applications and we see the edge data centers go to the last mile, even to the homes At the moment, we are doing pilot projects with telcos and help them remotely manage and improve the uptime
of each cell site
be applied during such instances.
Trang 27Go4GST had the following
problems associated with it
that needed to be addressed:
1) Since it was a SaaS
(Software as a Service) based
application which means
multiple customers were
go-ing to use it Each will be filgo-ing
their returns on a timely basis
and at the same time So infra
had to be capable enough of
handling that much amount
of load
2) It had to be highly available and scalable
enough in the sense that if anyone of cloud
compo-nent gets down then another machine with the same
configuration and data should be available to accept
the load demand
3) In case of any mishappening, there should be a
backup mechanism that will allow us to restore
4) The cost was one of the major decision driven
factor
5) Apart from cost, the mandate requirement for
this infrastructure was that all the Infra component
should be placed in India only
Solution deployment
After considering all the problems and mandates
that were associated with the required system, then
Go4GST found Microsoft Azure as the one-stop
solu-tion for all;
1) Auto Scalable – To handle and meet load
demand Microsoft Azure has a component like VMSS
(Virtual machine Scale Set) where we can run instance
under Auto scaling mode i.e it automatically Scale-In
and Scale-Out as per requirement
2) Highly Available – For highly available Infra,
Azure has specified SLA that meets the customer
re-quirement that mostly meets >= 99.99% availability
3) Auto Backup – Azure has backup service that
constantly take backup of respective components as per predefined schedule
4) Cost Effective – One of the major deciding
factors for any customer is Cost for which Microsoft Azure has one of the best and competitive price if we compared with other public cloud providers
Solution benefits
Following are the major benefits that Go4GST get
by choosing Microsoft Azure public cloud:
1) Cloud component cost in Microsoft Azure is comparatively less from another public cloud pro-vider For example, if we choose WAF for security perspective than highly available Barracuda WAF cost around INR 2 lac if we purchase from the marketplace And if we chose native Azure WAF than it will be around INR 10,000 (with meeting SLA of 99.99%) So, such a huge cost difference will obviously lead us to choose Azure
2) Since the requirement of deploying Infra in India only plus has to meet compliance, so by choos-ing Azure we are provided with both the solutions As they have 4 data centres to choose in India itself Each one them is compliant as per requirement

Over the coming few months, Google has announced to integrate Google Assistant into Android Messages Once the feature is available, the Google Assistant will help you quickly find and share information about three categories — movies, restaurants and weather.
A Google Assistant button will appear in the smart replies section of the Messages app On tapping the button,
it will ask the Assistant a question and if you find the information to be useful you can send it directly as a reply The feature is limited to English as of now.
For example, if you’re chatting about a movie, you might see a suggestion chip to learn more about that film
By tapping the chip, you can ask the Assistant to pull up a card with recent movie reviews or showtimes, which you can choose to share back into your conversation with just another tap If you don’t choose to share that information, the other person won’t see it.
However, If, you’re concerned about Google reading your messages, but that’s not the case The only information sent to Google’s servers is the text of the Google Assistant button you tap Those “suggestion chips” are generated by Messages app using the on-device AI.

Watson is designed to help organisations put AI to work
to improve the performance
of business But earlier they needed to use IBM’s Cloud computing service for the technology
IBM on Tuesday said it had made Watson portable across any Cloud and empowered businesses to prevent vendor lock-in and start deploying AI wherever their data resides.”Businesses have largely been limited
to experimenting with AI in siloes due to the limitations caused by Cloud provider lock-in of their data,” Rob Thomas, General Manager, IBM Data and AI, said in
a statement.”With most large organisations storing data across hybrid Cloud environments, they need the freedom and choice to apply AI to their data wherever
it is stored By breaking open that siloed infrastructure
we can help businesses accelerate their transformation through AI,” Thomas said

How are Kodak HD LED TVs different from other
brands in the country?
For the past two decades, there were only 2-3
tele-vision brands that were taking over 80% of the market
share because of which there was very less space
for the affordable category television brands So, we
decided to launch Kodak in 2016 and never looked
back Our motto “We offer the same technology, but
at a better price” has really worked for us The Indian
consumers are smart They compare specifications before buying televisions
Please explain how your associated with Kodak?
SPPL is a 30-year-old TV manufacturing company and we were looking for a multinational brand with whom we could grow, and what was better than brand Kodak which has a history of 125 years, has a higher brand recall and nostalgia attached to it
