Trang 1Auto-Tune 8.1.8 AAX Native PC Notes
Thank you for purchasing or evaluating Auto-Tune 8.1 AAX Native for PC
While the Owner's Manual contains all the platform-independent information you'll need to get the full benefit of Auto-Tune 8.1 (and we really encourage you
to read it), this file includes specific installation and use issues unique to the AAX PC version
ANNOUNCING AUTO-TUNE 8.1
Auto-Tune 8.1 contains improvements to the timing of the Graph Mode data, fixing long-standing issues with that data, especially at higher sample rates and
in longer songs We think you will appreciate the ability to more accurately track and correct your audio using this new software!
INSTALLATION
The Auto-Tune 8.1 AAX installer will automatically install the plug-in in the
correct location
AUTHORIZATION
Authorization is the process by which this software is allowed to run on your computer Detailed instructions covering the available authorization options will
be found in the the file “Authorization Read Me” which is included on the
installation DVD ROM or with your software download
NOTE: You will not be able to launch Auto-Tune 8.1 until you have completed
the authorization process and downloaded your authorization to your iLok smart key
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE
For those upgrading from older versions of Auto-Tune, it is critical to note the following:
Auto-Tune 8.1 will NOT open sessions created with ANY previous versions of Auto-Tune Improvements to the timing of the Graph Mode data make that data incompatible with the data from any earlier versions, including previous Auto-Tune 8 versions (whose version number starts with 8.0)
For that reason, we have configured Auto-Tune 8.1 such that it and Auto-Tune
8 and any existing version of Auto-Tune can be active in your audio host
Trang 2simultaneously (provided that version is compatible with your audio host) The new software will be found under its new name, “Auto-Tune 8.1”
You can begin using Auto-Tune 8.1 for all your new sessions, while at the same time continuing to use your old sessions with the old software (including versions of Auto-Tune 8 prior to 8.1)
Alternatively, you can use whatever method your host offers (bouncing, offline editing, etc.) to permanently render the corrected tracks of your old sessions (using the old software), and then use Auto-Tune 8.1 for any future edits
PLUG-IN USE
Auto-Tune 8.1 AAX Native can be used as a real-time AAX plug-in or from the AudioSuite menu It functions as a 32-bit plug-in in Pro Tools 10 and as a 64-bit plug-in in Pro Tools 11 and later
DO NOT CHANGE THE LATENCY SETTING WHILE THE TRANSPORT IS RUNNING
Seriously Don't do it
BUFFER SIZE FOR TIME MANIPULATION
For best performance, we recommend a buffer size of 1024 when performing time manipulation
HIERARCHICAL MENUS
With Pro Tools's hierarchical plug-in menus, Auto-Tune 8.1 will be found in the category "Pitch Shift."
SCREEN RESIZING
Due to an issue with Pro Tools, the Auto-Tune 8.1 screen can only be resized via the Options window Select one of the preset sizes or enter an arbitrary size of your choice into data fields
OPTIONS WINDOW KEYBOARD COMMAND
Due to a peculiarity of how Pro Tools establishes the maximum window size, it
is possible to end up with a window size that does not allow you to access the Options button to properly resize the window If you encounter this problem, you can use the keyboard command "Shift-0" (where "0" is the number key at the top of your keyboard) to access the Options window
Trang 3AUTO-SCROLL IN AUDIOSUITE
Due to an issue in Pro Tools, engaging Auto-Scroll in Graphical Mode in
Audiosuite during pitch or time correction (i.e., after audio has been tracked and correction objects created), will result in audio artifacts in the Preview audio (Note that the rendered audio will not contain these artifacts) Avid is aware of this issue and is looking into a solution In the meantime, disable Auto- Scroll in Audiosuite
MODIFIER KEYS
The following modifier keys are active in Auto-Tune 8.1 in Pro Tools:
Shift - Toggles Snap-To-Note state in Graphical Mode Toggles Momentary state
in Automatic Mode
Control - Allows free movement of correction curves in Graphical Mode
Alt-Click a control to return it to its default value
1 - 0 - Graphical Mode function selection (QWERTY keys only)

horizontal (time) position when attempting to alter only their vertical (pitch)
Trang 4position
Added a checkbox in the Options dialog to allow turning off/on automatic
update checks, along with a button to check for updates immediately
NOTE REGARDING USE FORMANTS SETTING
In making the fix in version 8.0.6 for certain types of audio, a change was made
in how the Use Formants setting is implemented This will result in audio glitches
if you change the setting during playback while processing audible audio To avoid such glitches, you should always change this setting either when the
transport is not running, or during silent moments of the audio
CHANGES FOR VERSION 8.1.0 (AUTO-TUNE 8.1)
The following changes were made for version 8.1.0:
Fixed several issues in the placement in time of Graph Mode data,
especially at sample rates other than 44.1K (or its multiples), as well as
when tracking pitch starting at different locations in the timeline
Fixed a delay problem when applying time changes
Fixed a problem where certain parameters would not be properly restored
when loading sessions that were saved while in Graph Mode
Fixed an issue where the new check box for automatically checking for
updates would not retain its value
When completing a tracking operation in Graph Mode, the graph will now
only zoom to the newly tracked data if the Auto Scroll button is turned on
CHANGES FOR VERSION 8.1.1
The following changes were made for version 8.1.1:
Fixed an issue where the Graph Mode keyboard would not refresh the
labels on its keys when changing the Key or Scale until the graph was
scrolled (or otherwise redrawn)
Fixed a memory “leak” in the graphical correction objects
Fixed a bug that could sometimes lead to a crash when generating or
drawing new curves on top of existing curves
CHANGES FOR VERSION 8.1.2
The following changes were made for version 8.1.2:
Fixed an issue with using the Bass Instrument setting where some audio
data could cause a crash
Modified the Show Lanes button so that it disables when not using Major,
Minor or Chromatic scales
Restored the ability to Paste Settings into AudioSuite from other instances
Trang 5of Auto-Tune 8.1
Fixed an issue where changing the state of the Low Latency button would
have no effect unless/until Delay Compensation was turned on in ProTools
Disabled Auto-Tune’s “Key Bindings” (i.e., hot keys) whenever the mouse is
being tracked using a Graph Tool or when adjusting the Number of Note
Objects, Retune Speed, Adjust Vibrato or Throat Length Adjust knob in
Graph Mode
NOTES REGARDING COPYING GRAPHICAL DATA BETWEEN INSTANCES
When copying Graphical Mode data between instances of Auto-Tune 8.1, please
be sure to paste the data in the exact location in time from where the data was copied Failing to do so will result in less than desirable results
Also, the Paste Settings function in ProTools will not function correctly for
Graphical Mode data that was generated using the Track Pitch + Time button If you intend to be able to copy and paste Graphical Mode data between instances
of Auto-Tune 8.1, you should only use the Track Pitch button to generate your graphical data
CHANGES FOR VERSION 8.1.4
The following changes were made for version 8.1.4:
Greatly improved the graphical performance in all areas, especially when
the plug-in window has been expanded above the minimum (default) size
Fixed an issue with saving user preferences (via the Options dialog) so that
the user no longer has to close and re-open ProTools in order for newly
saved default settings to be applied to new instances of the plug-in
CHANGES FOR VERSION 8.1.5
The following changes were made for version 8.1.5:
Restored the full range of internal values for the Tracking knob that was
restricted for version 8.1.4
Fixed an issue where the default (arrow) cursor would sometimes be
replaced with another cursor (such as the spinning blue “wait” cursor)
CHANGES FOR VERSION 8.1.8
The following changes were made for version 8.1.8:
Fixed a problem with the Line Tool when moving the mouse near or beyond
an edge of the graph while drawing lines It now behaves as expected,
whether the mouse button is held down or released between points
Fixed the Object Cents display so that it shows the correct value when
dragging existing Note Objects
Trang 6 Fixed a problem where if Show Lanes was turned on and the envelope was set to NOT be drawn in the main graph, then scrolling vertically would make all the graphical data disappear from the graph until some other action caused it to redraw (such as scrolling horizontally)
Fixed the dragging of Note Objects when Snap To Note is turned on for the Major and Minor scales Previously, it would allow dragging to notes that are not in the current Major or Minor scale
Fixed a minor drawing issue with the drawing of “lanes” when Show Lanes
is on and scrolling up or down
Fixed an issue with certain input devices such as the MagicMouse and trackpad under OS X 10.12 (Sierra), where mouse movements of under a pixel would go completely undetected This caused issues with some of the graph tools when moving the mouse slowly
Fixed minor issues with formatting in the various pitch-reporting text boxes
in Graph Mode
Fixed an issue recently introduced where the text boxes in Graph Mode would fail to refresh in ProTools, and would thus end up always being blank
Added code to disable Dynamic Plugin Processing in the plug-in chain that includes Auto-Tune, to resolve issues it introduced in Graph Mode when ProTools would skip over sections of silence or gaps between regions
