Mobile phones are part of our daily lives We all use them – housewives, executives, teenagers and old age pensioners According to the ITU – the International Telecommunication Union –
at the end of 2002 there were 1, 390 million users
Of course, different people use their mobiles for different things, and there is a model for every taste For example, women normally choose larger phones while men prefer smaller models For young people, the priority is to send SMS text messages They like mobile phones with covers they can change As well as communication, they want entertainment They want
to play games and download ring=tones and icons
On the other hand, executives and salespeople see their mobile as a work tool They need to connect to their company computers Typically they choose a medium- sized model with a large screen to read information They demand features like a personal organizer, calculator, alarm clock, note pad, recorded reminders and connection to a PC
There are other people who don’t often use their phones to make calls, but want others to be able to contact them Size is not important and they don’t need to connect to the Internet They want something cheap and simple to use, and usually prefer pre-paid cards
