Battery Charging Overview
• USB/Power “Splitter Cable”
provides connections between
the Microlog, the Power
Adapter/Battery Charger, and
an external device’s USB
communications port.
• First time battery use - charge
for five hours minimum
Subsequent charges require 3-
5 hours.
• Typical battery life is 6-8 hours
in standard operations

Battery Replacement Sequence
Replacing the battery in an Active Microlog:
• Press the Power button to suspend the Microlog.
• Un-latch the battery and remove the pack
• Replace with a fully charged battery pack and re-latch
• Press the Power button

Battery Status Display
• Good – Approximately 45% or more of battery life
remains (i.e., approximately 4 hours or more of
normal usage).
• Low - Less than 45% of battery life remaining,
charge the battery as soon as possible.
• Critical – Very limited battery life remaining (less
than 30 minutes) Charge the battery
immediately, it is not recommended to continue
work when the battery status is Critical.

Battery Safety!
Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced!
• Do not expose the battery pack to temperatures in excess of 140° F (60° C).
• Do not disassemble, incinerate, or short-circuit the battery pack.
• Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer Dispose of used
batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions
• Do not open battery compartment in a hazardous area!

Entering Letters from Keypad
• To input letters, repeatedly
press the number key
representing the specific letter
2, 3, or 4 times
• For example, for B, press the
2 key 3 times (2-A-B) This
works in a similar manner to a
cell phone’s text entry
capability

Communications Overview
RS-232 Serial Communications – Machine Analyst software upload / download operations utilize only RS-232 serial communications
USB / IrDA Communications – GX Series upgrade modules and
operating system upgrades may be installed using Microsoft
ActiveSync and the RS-232, USB, and IrDA connectors, or using a
PC card
GX Series display screens may be printed to RS-232 and IrDA
supported printers

ActiveSync Overview
• Connects Windows® CE device (GX) to desktop PC
• Free download from Microsoft® - www.microsoft.com
• Run “setup.exe” program and follow instructions to install
• Synchronizes files between the GX and desktop PC
• After setup, initiates automatically when USB cable is connected between Microlog and desktop PC
• Allows Windows Explorer® file transfer operations between the
GX and desktop PC

Printing Microlog Screens
• Print the current display screen using the RS232 connector or the IrDA port (for printers with IrDA support)
• Press the shift key (zero / up arrow) then the P alphanumeric key The Print Setup dialog displays Options include:
Printer – Specify either a PCL or PocketJet 200 printer.
Baud Rate – Specify the baud rate for RS232 connection, or IrDA if applicable Size – Specify the size of the screen print-out Medium is approximately one-to-
one with the GX screen size.
• After setting up print options, press the OK function button to print
the current display

GX Series accepts any standard ATA flash memory card or any Type I or Type II card that is supported with a Microsoft Windows® CE driver
PC Card Advantages:
• Provide greater memory for ROUTE storage.
• PC cards are portable, which is efficient in plants with more than one Microlog.
• Independent ROUTEs can be stored on different PC cards
• For hazardous areas, you must use a PC card manufactured by
Simple Technology, model numbers STI-ATAFL/8A to STI-ATAFL/512.

How to Perform a Hard Reset
• A hard reset will not delete data or ROUTEs.
• With the Microlog OFF, unscrew the battery cover on the back of
the unit
• Using a 1/16th inch pin or a straightened paper clip, press the reset button located in the lower left corner of the battery compartment, below the battery
• The LCD screen loads the SKF title screen, then the main screen
