i ji : a f each

subdivided into two parts that generally cover eight kanji each Both parts (1) and (2) of ea

i i ercl ith example

lesson comprise a kanji practice table (section I), vocabulary reading exercises with examp

sentences (section II), and a kanji fill-in-the-blank task (section III)

@ Kanji practice table Sư:

Five practice squares are provided for each kanji First, trace over the character’s form in

@ Vocabulary reading & example sentences

The table in this section lists the shaded vocabulary of the corresponding textbook lesson

First, write each word’s reading in the Reading column, and then read the example sentence

provided for it Some sentences contain kanji and words not yet studied, so their readings are

given in hiragana subtext for your convenience

If you have trouble reading any of the target words, go over it again in the textbook in order

to solidly learn its reading

Kanji fill-in-the-blank task

In this task, you need to write the vocabulary covered by section II in the blanks of each sentence First, read through the sentence to grasp its meaning, and then write the appropriate kanji or the reading of kanji in the underlined blank The kanji vocabulary studied in that lesson are shown in bold type The sentences also provide practice in the kanji

and over will enable you to

Applied exercises

Each lesson ends with applied exercises for general review of parts (1) and (2) In order to

ensure firm retention of the target kanji, the exercises have been designed in various formats (including reading material containing the kanji)

An answer key lists the readings of section II vocabulary and example sentences, and the answers to the section III exercises and the applied exercises
