Trang 7Hardware Setup
It is necessary to set domain and station numbers for the following switches before
installing the software:
• Vnet/IP interface card (VI701)
• Field control station processor module (CP451)
• Vnet Router (AVR10D)
When the domain number and station number are correctly defined and the Unshielded Twisted Pair Cables (UTP) are properly connected, the SND and
RCV lamps turn on at power-on If the RCV lamp turns on while the SND lamp
does not, check the dip switch setting of the corresponding card
Trang 8Vnet/IP Interface Card
• RDY lamp This lamp illuminates to indicate that the card is working properly as the result of the periodic diagnosis.
• RCV lamp This lamp illuminates when a signal is received through
Vnet/IP.
• SND lamp This lamp illuminates when a signal is sent through
Vnet/IP.
• Ethernet connectors These connectors are used for connecting with the
Layer2 Switch.
The connector type is RJ45 and the twist-pair cable type
is CAT5e.
Trang 9Installing the Vnet/IP Interface Card to a PC
The Vnet/IP interface card (VI701) is installed in the expansion PCI slot of a general purpose personal computer (PC/AT compatible) The VI701 connects the computer to the Vnet/IP.
Installation Procedure:
1 Set the station address of VI701 interface card.
2 Turn off the power of the PC For safety, remove the power
plug from the power outlet.
3 Loosen the screws of the PCI slot cover and remove the slot
cover.
4 Insert the VI701 interface card in the PCI slot and make sure
that the card is inserted straightly in the slot.
5 Tighten the screws of the PCI slot cover so as to fix the VI701
card.
6 Connect the card with Layer2 Switch with the cables for
BUS1 and BUS2 For this connection, there is no need to turn
off the power of the Layer2 Switch.
7 Turn on the power of the PC.
8 Confirm that the RDY lamp on VI701 card is on.
9 Write the station address to the sticker that comes with the
VI701 and stick it on the front of the computer or another
obvious place
Remove Procedure:
1 Turn off the power of the PC.
2 Disconnect the cables for BUS1 and BUS2 from the VI701 card For replacement of VI701 card, there is no need to disconnect the cables from the Layer2 Switch.
3 Remove the VI701 from the PCI slot.
Trang 10Setting Vnet/IP Station Address – VI701
The station address of a Vnet/IP is defined by a combination of a domain number
and a station number
The DIP switches for setting the domain number and station number are located on
the printed circuit board of the VI701
Trang 11Setting Domain Number – VI701
Set the domain number to 1 for a single network system
Unless other specified, all bits are set to 0 (OFF) at shipment from the factory.Domain is a range of stations connected by a single Vnet/IP Bit 2 of the DIP switch
is always 0
Trang 12Setting the Station Number – VI701
Set the station number
in the range of 1 to 64
Trang 13Setting Action Mode – VI701
Using the DIP switches (SW4) on the printed circuit board, the communication
mode and the redundant configuration can be setup
Auto negotiation means the communication speed is automatically adjusted in accordance with the destinations speed as well as the local speed setting and
communication mode
Trang 14Attaching the Vnet/IP Station Address Label
Once the domain number and station number have been determined, the user should record the numbers on the station address label provided with the VI701 and attach the label on the front or other visible place of the personal computer
with the VI701 installed

Trang 16Vnet/IP Station Address – Vnet Router (1)
The dipswitches on the front of the communication module can be used for setting
the station numbers of Vnet/IP domain and the V net or VL net domain
Trang 17Vnet/IP Station Address – Vnet Router (2)
Setting the Domain Number
Set the domain number to a value from 1 to 16
For Vnet domain, bit 2 and bit 3 are always off
For Vnet/IP domain, bit 2 is always off
Setting the Station Number
Set the station number to a value
from 1 to 64
