Before applying the assessments, gather the following items:
✓ a copy of the assessment for each child
✓ a box of crayons in a variety of colors
✓ a pencil, an eraser, and a pen
✓ paint and a paintbrush (Unit 1); a pencil case (Unit 3); a teddy bear and a book (Unit 5)
✓ a list of the children to be assessed
While completing the assessments, follow these steps:
• Separate the children into small groups
• Provide the children with safe activities, such as playing with playdough or plastic blocks
• Play the instrumental version of the Bebop Storysong from the unit you are assessing.
• Sit at a table or desk with an extra chair for the child that is being assessed
• Invite the first child on the list to sit next to you at the table or desk
• Ask the child to complete the following tasks according to the unit being assessed
