1 Screen Composition
① Menu bar is displayed

④ Selected folder or lists of contents corresponding to a selected classification system are displayed

When TeachingMATE is executed, 5 types of main menus will be shown at the top : File (F),
Edit (E), View (V), Tool (T) and Help (H) First, let us look into File (f)
01 New Folder
New folder is created under the selected folder within the list When “New Folder” is
clicked, a pop up will appear for entering in the name of the folder
02 New Question
This menu is used for authoring questions Question authoring screen will appear
when the type of question is selected
03 New Group Question
This menu is used for authoring group questions Group question authoring screen
will appear when the type of question is selected
04 New Summary
Trang 11This menu is the main point (content) that are provided for the students to read It can be inserted between questions so that the students can read and answer questions following the summaries
05 New Test Paper Composition
This menu is used for composing test papers that consist of different questions Test paper composition screen will appear when this menu is selected
06 New Format
New Format is used to prepare header, footer, instruction and passage for test
papers
07 Import
Import is used to bring in another form of data that is not TeachingMATE It is saved
as *.nef file – *.nef files are created and opened using TeachingMATE authoring
tool This is original TeachingMATE file format
08 Export
Export is used to save TeachingMATE data as another form It is saved as *.nef file
09 Empty Recycle Bin
After deleting a saved content, empty recycle bin for a complete deletion of the content
10 Property
Information on the program user or basic composition of content that will be prepared can be set up in advance for easy content authoring based on the fixed property without needing to perform various set up tasks
11 Exit
Exit is used for ending TeachingMATE

Trang 166 Folder Management
01 In order to manage prepared contents efficiently in TeachingMATE, [Folder] needs to be made When TeachingMATE is installed, [TeachingMATE] – [My Computer] folder will automatically be created and provided However, users will not be able to delete or change the name of these two folders since they are system folders Therefore, subfolders under [My Computer] must be made when necessary
02 [Sub folders under [My Computer] can be created and managed by titles [Question], [Summary], [Test Paper/Teaching Material], [Teaching Material] and [Passage], or by [Header/Footer, [Insert Description] and etc Therefore it is more convenient when authoring contents since content composition elements can be found easily
03 When a sub folder such as “1st
Grade” is created and managed under [My Computer], convenience is provided since authored contents can easily be printed

7 Configuration
With TeachingMATE, users can do set ups in advance that are mandatory when
performing each different tasks during the use of the program Generally, settings are already applied to the contents that being authored and users can use this program very conveniently without having to do set ups every time they create content However, what users can do is, they can modify the settings according to their needs
Trang 1801 Basic Set Up of Multiple Choice Question (①)
When authoring multiple choice question, set property grid according to the assigned value in the Configuration.(④)
You may use after setting question values of generally used types Numbers of choice of answers are automatically formed according to the assigned quantity when authoring multiple choice questions
02 Paper Size and Margin Set Up
When creating test paper (teaching material), set paper that is in default to a desired format (⑤)

However, in the case of test papers or assessments, they will be shown in the size that was set up in the typesetting
Margin of a paper is users assigned settings that are shown in test papers typesetting property grid As the size selected by users, it is used as default

Item for display are selected when creating a new test paper composition Settings can be modified in the property grid of test paper composition.(⑧)

1 Multiple Choices Question
From the toolbar, click on ( ▼ ) of [Question] and select on [Multiple Choices Question]
01 On the Home tab, in the [Paper & Column] group, assign paper size and column to be used when question to be authored is printed
02 Click (1.) and the cursor will be activated to start entering in questions
03 Place your mouse right to the symbol of choice of answers (①) Click to activate the cursor and start preparing in the choice of answers
04 When the mouse if placed next to (①) answer sheet management button will appear on the left side ( ) button deletes answers, ( ) button adds answers and ( / ) controls the ordering of the answers
05 Put a check next to the correct answer by clicking on the symbols of choice

06 Enter [Hint] and [Comment]
07 Select on the desired answer choices arrangement, on the menu [Arrangement of Answer Choice] from the upper side
08 From [Property] on the right side, various set ups can be assigned such as search word, difficulty level, symbols of choice of answers and etc that are required when authoring questions
09 Click the TeachingMATE Button ( ), and then click Save or click save button ( ) from the quick menu bar and save the currently authored question under the desired location

2 Short Answer Question
Trang 24From the toolbar, click on ( ▼ ) of [Question] and select on [Short Answer Type Question]
01 On the [Home] tab, in the [Paper & Column] group, assign paper size and column to be used when question to be authored is printed
02 Give a click next to (1.) and the cursor will be activated to start entering in questions
03 When the statement “Please click and input the correct answer” is clicked, another window for entering in the correct answer will appear Write in the correct answer, click on [Add], [OK] and it will be saved In the case of several correct answers, continue entering in the answers that will be considered correct by clicking on [Add]

08 From the [Property] on the right side, users can decide on the spacing of correct answers, ordering of answers and etc
09 Click the TeachingMATE Button ( ), and then click Save or click save button ( ) from the quick menu bar and save the currently authored question under the desired location

06 Click the TeachingMATE Button ( ), and then click Save or click save button ( ) from the quick menu bar and save the currently authored question under the desired location

From the question authoring window, Sound( ), Video( ) and Flash( ) files can be inserted into the question or answer
01 Audio files can be inserted anytime during question authoring when
necessary From where the file needs to be inserted, click on the audio icon ( )from the menu and select the desired audio file (wav, mp3)
02 Select on the desired file, click on [OK] and it will be inserted into the question authoring window
03 Video file and Flash file can be inserted or copied into a question from many different sources Click the Video icon( ) or Flash icon ( ) and attach files as
these kinds of format: mv, avi, mpg
04 When multimedia included questions or test papers/teaching materials are provided online, learners can first listen to the audio or view video/flash and select

5 Passage Question
From the toolbar, click on ( ▼ ) of [Passage] and select on the desired question type A dialogue box titled “Select Passage” will appear Select the desired passage from the folder where it is saved under
When a passage is selected, question authoring window will appear The selected
passage will be shown and authoring can be done in the same way as when question is
authored When making identical type of questions continuously, users can add/delete
questions or adjust orderings of questions using the buttons shown on the left side of (1.)
02 Contents of passage can be modified while authoring related questions

From the menu, click on ( ▼ ) of [Passage] and select [Passage]
01 When passage authoring window appears, click inside the text box shown and activate the cursor Then begin entering in the passage
02 From the property on the right side, various set ups required when authoring passage such as search word, author, title and etc can be assigned
03 Click the save button ( ) and save the currently authored question under the desired location

When [Test Paper] icon is clicked, a composing window for test papers and teaching materials will appear Test papers are composed with questions that have been authored
Trang 3301 If ① is clicked, then the cursor will be activated to enter and edit header in test papers According to the necessity, tables can also be used At the bottom, footer can also be entered and edited in the same way
02 Click on ③ which is [Add Content], search for and select desired questions
or summaries To select data from another folder, click on [Add Content] and add them into test papers or teaching materials
When contents have been added to test papers, content lists and actual contents arrangement are shown at the top and at the bottom consecutively To rearrange the contents, either selects on the content from the list and moves it to the desired place using the mouse, or right clicks on the mouse and rearranges the contents to the desired location
03 If editing to the arranged contents is necessary, double click on the
corresponding content and editing window will open Contents then can be modified
04 From the [Property] on the right side, set ups such as paper size, margin and etc can be selected for printing as well as various options such as “Show Correct Answers”, “Show Hint” and etc
05 Test papers that have been set up are managed as [Typesetting] If a new typesetting is required, click on the typesetting button and create a new one Typesetting will manage the arranged contents in various forms
06 Click the save button ( ) and save the currently authored question under the desired location
