This workbook has been designed for children who join Ist Std (Nali –Kali) in school Many students come without pre-school education background This workbook contains exercises in the competencies which will help to build a strong foundation, especially for learning the English language The content of this workbook has been planned to build pre- reading and pre-writing skills These include recognition of different shapes and patterns, ability

to control pencil strokes, eye-hand coordination, tracing, writing and to develop concentration and observation skills.

Start each ACTIVITY by giving instructions in the student’s mother tongue, then read out the same in English Draw the attention of the children to the example shown in the first line

Please check each page, write the date and sign, after the students have completed each page This gives children a feeling of recognition and encourages a positive attitude to learning.
